Hm, interesting idea...
...but I dont think it makes such a huge difference? Of course wind decreases in lower heights.
But we fly the kites low above the water anyhow - so shortening the lines will maybe not have a huge effect?
I guess you could produce much more effect by building a longer depower?
@Zkatez, yes thats right. But I fly a 4 Line North Bar with Draft Kites - so the lines above the low Y (its only 4,5 m) will not make a huge diffrence to the low V of the Naish Bars - the angle is basically exactly the same when using 30m lines (24 + 6).

Would be good to see what we can do!
Did anyone try 20m lines on an 18?
I wonder if it could be flewn up to 30 knots?
Imagine 1 kite and 3 bars...covering 10-30 knots
Wow...18 in 30 knots sounds like flying...
Anyone?
I don't see it happening but then again I've seen you on a 14 in 32 knots in Vietnam. That surprised me. That same day I couldnt hold down my 9 rebel but my board was a bit too large as well.
I have used 20 m lines on a 16 but I cant hold it down at 25. I only weigh 64 kilos though. 18m and 30 knots just sounds dangerous. Even if you could hold it together, I'm willing to bet that the kite will not fly well and probably get deformed in shape. Anyway, I'm sure you will try it when you can. Be Safe.

I use to have the 30-32m lines since the the flat kites where produced. I can say that it always work very good for airstyle! The kite become slow turning (one of the key factor for airstyle) + you can harness the upper wind that is usually faster then lower and when you steer the kite it gets a kind of kick so your jump become higher and longer. Always recommended!

Ok, found the limit for an 18 with 32m lines! 27 knots!
Was out yesterday and really powered up. Depower all the way...could hold the edge and jump, but not relaxed anymore. Did few big airs, but lift off was not clean since on the choppy ocean without clean kickers.
Now need to test again in the same wind with 25m lines, if there will be a difference in power in this wind.

Just received the lines from Peter Goldbach, boardway.
What a blast - great quality!
On the side you see Naish extensions, I find the lines of Peter nicer then the Naish or North ones.
Happy with my extension set of 3/4/5/6/7/8 m lines. Covers everything from 3-15m.
24 m on bar --> 27-39m possible.
Keen on trying soon!

tell us about the different length on your kites and its performance!
Take a 10 on 39m lines, good?

Will do, but if I make it to Brazil in January (pressing thumbs nobody in our company goes mad round New Year) I will pass on the "work" to you and let you do some testing too. Must be fun to get a jump of you with a 17m2 Naish Draft with 32m lines on video
I have seen Shawn Richman with a Draft. It seemed like he will never come down again, he was just flying forever and ever and ever...
