Wakestyle: 2014 Park

Postby Osprey1 » Fri Nov 08, 2013 6:46 pm

I've been riding new Parks which I love in every aspect including big air, surf and wakestyle load-poop-line slack but...I'm having an issue with rolling the kite when after crashing it with low powered wakestyle moves. Here's how this happens.

1) With a lot speed and kite low unhook and pop
2) Do a move to blind or do a pass from back to front hand. (ie r2b, s-bend to blind, etc)
3) land downwind with a lot of speed, but make the mistake of crashing the kite. This is a very common thing to do when working on powered wakestyle moves.
Result: The kite rolls on it's back, then inverts. Even if the flying lines are kept taught (by crashing) I've had it invert a few times. On my old Parks I would just grab both steering lines swim backwards and 9 times out of 10 the kite would right itself, but am having trouble this year. I think it could be a faulty bladder or valve in my center strut and I just want to see if anyone else has this issue.

Overall again let me say I really like the kite, maybe it's just my technique that's at fault

Mate if you don't have any luck getting this sorted. I would recommend 2014 RPM. Had a look at one the other day. They look F in sick and the bridle on the rpm's are so small, their is no way that a wrap will happen. Also no more pulleys, just some ally rings that replace them. Plus the bar is alot nicer. 2014 are coming out in a 11m. New Rpm's should be out in couple months or less.
Enjoy.

Seen 2 people get slammed at launch (one into tree) cos they didnt notice a bridle wrap on this kite. Other kites have got way more direct feel, nicer rail load up than this kite for freestyle / wakestyle.

On the 2014 park? I doubt it.
This makes little sense. The guy is looking for a specific solution.

Osprey. I had a look at the bridle l..I'm sure it can be shortened..for wakestyle that would work well. Ive not had any wrapping but I'm sure making the bridle shorter would work. If you Loki at the 2013 bridle..it is much shorter..ill see if I can test one of those bridles on my kite.

I assume that wave riders would suffer from this as well?

Its the price of the great feel the kite have whit no pulleys but the longer bridle..

It happens in the waves to, and as you say way more than 2013.
Where its normal that 9 out of 10 there is no wrap, this special bridle can do it 4-5 / 10 times you roll the kite.

IMHO its a 2 way street, the feel from the new bridle, and the thin struts are great, but it have a price as you have seen.

If you can't live whit it, get the Torch.

For what my opinion is worth you should check out the Vegas. Very direct feeling, shit loads of pop and they provide plenty of slack for passes. Loops really nicely with plenty of power. Someone will most likely mention the 5th line. I've never had an issue with it but it is possible to wrap the line around the kite but with a little practice you'll be able to recover the kite without having a major problem.

I'm on 2013 Vegas.

Classic. Guy asks for some tips to solve his park issues and he gets a bunch of other kites he should buy...lol.

Maybe there is a technique solution when he crashes? Maybe not, maybe this is something you are to live with.

My mistake, I read the last bit of the first paragraph incorrectly! The Park is a fine kite, hope it works out.
