where is it going to break

Postby longwhitecloud » Mon Nov 11, 2013 7:43 am

We bought a full carbon foil 4 or 5 years ago but it snapped in half and sank to the bottom of the ocean never to be seen again - got to use it twice tho....

so we building this - minimum investment.. bit of help from towsurfing friend here that uses one

any experienced builder can guess where it will break?

does it need to be fully stiff or a bit of flex ok?

$5 foils shaped in 10 mins - i let u know what happens...!

think i gonna cut bottom of t bar off and weld on solid bar instead of hollow. we see

if it works... chemical free so far - might bag it with a load of uni up tbar shaft around base plate and around base of t bar. dreading that - i hate epoxy...

You should put the front fin on the bottom and rear fin on the top of the fuselage, that way the screw holding the front fin will have less stress.
Try plug the front and rear of the fuselage to reduce drag.
My 2 cents

It may well fold in half .. we see.

Borrowed a tow board to attach it to.

Most common grades of aluminum will be severely weakened by the heat of welding. I imagine it will break/deform near a weld.
