Billie,

Have you tried the regular 600lb Q-powerline? if so, did you see a significant difference?

I've got bars with stock line, 600 lb Q power and Q power pro, that I interchange regularly.
Can't say I FEEL a difference between any of them other than the durability. Something instrumentation may be able to pick up but not subtlety that I notice

Kite lines are way over strength rated for sales marketing crap and thats about it ...
Definitely not marketing....
the difference between the 150lb normally applied load and a 600 lb break strength has more to do with being in line with normal practices of safe working load on ropes . On our kites, they are exposed to nicks, cuts and chafe from sand, rocks and beach debris. They degrade from UV damage, and then we tie knots in them and punch holes through them to put sleeves on them. All of this will weaken the rope for real world conditions. A factor of safety of 5:1 is normal for ropes in operation.....we're actually a little under that.

Under no circumstances would I run lower test lines on my kite. I've CONSIDERED it on my steering lines where the load is less, but the consequences of failure is much more severe if a steering line breaks than a front flying line goes so I decided against this as I like that additional factor of safety against death loops.

I just went to there web-page, and it looks like i bin using the regular
Q-power line sets, (Not the Pro).

Now that i know that the PRO is actually thinner, i'll probably go to
that one instead, even though it is More expensive, (thinner is Better) by
a LOT !!

http://www.awindofchange.com/category/qpower.html

So now i'm looking for the Best price on the Q-Power Pro line , since
i want to change the old for new line sets.

Making a line set from this
product is easy, just tie figure-8's on one side and anchor it to something solid.
Then spool out a bit extra for the other end but Don't cut it. Instead wrap the
un-cut end around a pool-stick, and lean Back to pre-stretch it, then cut to size
and tie another figure-8.

The Orange line likes to bleed when wet, i dumped the orange lines into
the bath-tub with some shampoo to clean it before using it.

I guess 300lb strength is OK for back lines but really recommend 600lb strength for front lines

I paid USD 130 for my 500ft 600lb roll, so these prices seem OK
I personally would NOT use the 300lb for my back-lines ; one little nick
in that line, and your SCREWED !! The 600lb doubles your Odds for
not having a failure. Broken kite-lines , usually end-up BAD for the guy
hooked in.

Yes I have used this to create loops and to splice two pieces of line together with denema (kite lines) and am steel for bridal lines and just about anytime I need to join two pieces together or I need a fixed loop.
What ever you use though I believe it must be hollow core so this may not work with q-powerline I was told it is solid core line.

Kite lines are way over strength rated for sales marketing crap and thats about it ... I just got them to speed up the steering responce - the bonus is theyll last 5 years no worries.
Get sleeves put on them if you dont have pigtails on your kite also...

Not sure what you mean all kites have pig tails don't they?

Can you just tie a figure eight in these lines or should they be sleeved. ?

Watched that video did my head in....early in the piece to. Lol

Is there a source in Australia?

Also checked all those sites, they don't seem to sell the Qline pro only the thicker Qline stuff??

that's a brummel splice in the above video even tho it locks the splice down better than any other splice you pay for it with about 10% weaker splice than a more simple class 1 splice where you just stuff the rope inside and don't pass it thru. To finish if it has to go thru a safety system, you lock it with by sewing some lock stitches if it doesn't have to pass thru anything narrow lock it with a zacher knot.

That's really the only problem with q-powerline it doesn't fit thru most single center line flagging systems.

amsteel blue has some pdf's that show how to do all the various splices, the zacher knot I mirrored online you can google it to see how to do a zacher knot.

for q-powerline you want to end both sides with a figure 8 loop and after that attach pigtails to end in a knot or a loop depending.

q-powerline is pretty stiff and is a hassle to lark's head on a kite, that's why you want to finish with a pigtail, but I have never had it harm the bridle when I have used it raw, just a pain to take on and off.
