What snow gear do you guys use to keep warm

Postby MolsonH » Thu Nov 28, 2013 8:52 pm

Hi

I mainly kite on a frozen bay in the winter and the worst part is when you hit a pack of slush that goes up your back or down your pants because my harness seems to pull up on my jacket exposing my lower back.

I was wondering about snowpants with a bib, but I'm thinking I would overheat in no time in something like that so never bothered investing in a pair.

What are your experiences with snow gear? Anything you loved that you want to share?

Thanks!

After getting frost bite on my lower back last season using a waist harness I recommend bibs. I bought these:http://marmot.com/products/details/rosco-bib#

I haven't noticed that they are particularly warmer but they are drier because they keep the snow out. I do wish they had attachment point for the powder skirt.

A bib is definitely the way to go. I got mine for $39 at Dunham's Sporting goods. I also add some waterproofing spray. If you get overheated, take off some layers.

one piece thermal layer keeps the snow from touching the skin.
