After session or after long break " feel" your center strut to see if it is still at correct pressure

Unclip it and listen

If you hear air shooting out of center strut you have lost air pressure in LE and have a slow leak

You should repeat with all other struts also to confirm that the LE has lost air

Just my 2 cents to monitor LE possible leak
Make it 3 cents .
I'll give ya an extra cent for That one ; it's a Good idea !! :thumb:

But that means you gotta use time to clip and unclip your struts EVERY time you rig and derig a kite ?

No way I am doing that - life's too short for this :naughty:

pump up kite in cold, wait 10 minutes.
Surprise, it's not fully pumped anymore.
Pumping the air heats it, then it cools off.
If it's less than 60F, I pump the kite, run the bar/lines, wait a couple of minutes, then top it off.
If you have cold water, same problem, once kite hits the water, it cools, and it loses some rigidity.

Related: do black LE's help maintain pressure if the sun's out?
That's an opportunity for some pointless beachside pseudoscience research...

By clipping tight each struts you can guarantee accurate monitoring of the LE after each session
Easiest way to find if your kite is slowly going limp in the LE department
Having more air pressure in the struts than in the LE after a session can only mean a leak

I clip them all shut after pumping and after session unclip center strut first..and hope to hear....silence

:happybirthday: 218 days out so far this year x 20 seconds !!!! good thing my lines are always on !!!

You made me look at last December calendar 2012
Was not that great
12 days out
Already went once this month...yesterday...for #218
There are 27 days left....so the max would be 245...but let's say 5 of those days have no wind
I will keep you posted...if i get to 240

Happy New Year Billie :D
I came close to 240 days of kitesurfing this year with 238 days
Went out on New Years Eve but on the 30th and 29th there was not enough wind and too much rain

Summary :
6 days in the river because of offshore wind and it needs to blow 8m2 or smaller to be exciting
232 days in the surf.....221 days off my street...all those 238 days using strap surfboards
Kite used the most (126 times) was the 19m2...then 12-10- 8..... 4 times on a 6 and once on a 5

Two days short of a Free Monkey 6er ; 238 days on the water, is still Quite Impressive though !!!

I wonder if there is Anyone in the entire world , that can claim More days
of kiting , in ONE calendar year ?

i drink the cheap stuff, so i'll be Enjoying this !!!!
