Seems like
GoPro 3+. $299
GoPro 3+ Black. $399
The remote seems like a good item, out kiting don't want to shoot everything, seems repetitive after a while, remote around ur neck, pause camera till next shoot ....
Anyone using this feature while kiting? Any other upgrades between 2 cameras that make xtra $ worth it?
Suggestions requested, thinking bout picking up before I take off for next trip
Thanks, Max

Remote is definitley a nice feature...I velcro mine to the bar end. Blinking red LED shows recording vs. standby. Disadvantage is camera needs to be in "Wi-Fi" mode when using remote and it seriously cuts into your battery life. I have the 3 Black, and it hasn't been an issue for me though. Supposedly the 3+ improved upon the battery life issue some.

Huge fan of the wireless remote for kiting. I like the idea of strapping the remote to the bar. I strap it to my wrist. Use to let the camera run until it ran out of juice, but discovered my computer could not handle the huge files when it came time to edit. Keeping the clips to 2-3 minutes is a workaround for not having to purchase a $1500 laptop to edit your footage. This works out great for me as well as I kite in waves, and that covers a wave ride and then some.
Can't speak your basic question about the value of purchasing the 3+, but when it comes time to upload your video to Youtube or Vimeo, both cameras offer way more resolution than those platforms can handle. I prefer Vimeo overall for uploading for a variety of factors, which basically boils down to the quality and accessibility of the final product online. You are limited to 1080p at 30fps on Vimeo, and I believe 720p at 30fps on Youtube. If you film at higher rates, it gets compressed and looks like shit. Both cameras are capable of 4kp and 120fps-you get the idea.
Where to mount your camera? Backpack mount is good, but the best, imho, is the line mount, with the camrig. Camrig vids and shots are not only dope for showcasing how epically awesome your kiting skills are, but they are great for training-in other words for seeing how you look and understanding what you need to do to improve. Just an image taken with a camrig mounted gopro i found online.

Hey Hawaiis - thanks for the video. That's a cool development story. Good on you to keep going after losing the first foil to the bottom (or were you able to recover it? I am sure Ti ain't cheap!). A couple of questions - assume you are in Hawaiian waters - what are you wearing in the video (and why)? And how do you like the OR Flite vs the Ozone Edges? Thanks in advance!

I got the titanium foil back by posting a $100 reward. A swimmer found it after 4 days.. I wear a 2mm wetsuit on cold days. I like the Ozone better, but it is leaking after one year. I like the Ozone race bar better than the OR bar too.

+1 for the Garmin Virb.
The thing I like about it the most is that there is no fogging at all !

My favorite mounts are line and strut - I'm relatively new to the camera, but I have been using the line mount most. Best persepective with just the right close-up, IMO. Velcro'ing the remote to the bar end works great. Enjoy the new camera - and when in doubt about taking it out on the water (in a hurry, don't feel like it, etc) TAKE IT! I've missed some dang good opportunities for video because I was in a hurry and didn't feel like dinking with it. Example - deciding to follow my buddies upwind into a slick complex in Hatteras, then realizing I didn't have the camera
