Antigua - Late Dec/Jan

Postby hangtimefive7 » Fri Dec 13, 2013 2:47 pm

Hi Folks

Heading to Antigua for a family holiday in late Dec/early Jan and wondered if it is worth taking my kiting gear and/or surfboard with me, and if so what sizes? Any info on surf/kite spots also appreciated. I only ride surfboards, so need to know there is a chance of waves to make it worthwhile!

Cheers

Well this is When the trade winds kick in... If you look for next week on wind alert, 20-25knots every day one day When it is more like 15 and one When it goes close to 30 in the gusts. A 10m and a board 40-41 cm wide, should do it. I am 83,5 kg and that would be my kit for that dream vacation... Travel light and kite every day...

Anyone know if there are decent waves. Suspect there'll be wind, but not interested in flat water!

You are from Scotland. It is January. You are going to Antigua. Who cares if there are waves! Bring your kite. Ride your surfboard on flat water if you have to. Learn a new transition or air.

You might find waves. If not would you really sit on the beach and stare at warm blue water bitching and wishing you were back in Scotland?
