I,m going to Thailand on January 29 till February 8
I'm looking for info of where to kite and hotels you would recommend. It's got to be on the water.
I have heard Phuket is good that time of the year. Any specific hotel walking distance to water would be great. I'm not even sure what direction the wind is coming from there.
I'm open to suggestions to other places too.
Is there a place that has waves I case there is no wind ?
What is the best way to travel around ?
Thanks for your help!

Read up on kiteboarding asia. There's a lot of info. I learned Kiteboarding in Hua Hin in late November. It was quite nice. Stayed right up from teh beach at White Villa, I believe. I had contacted the shop. They recommended it and thought they had some arrangement w/ the place for a discount, but that didn't pan out, so the shop reimbursed me instead.
Heard great things about Koh Phangan. I forget the months, but it's super flat on one of the beaches (at least) and there's lots of backup activities and night life.

I'm going back to Pranburi (1 hour south of Hua Hin) this year and had a blast the first time. two years ago... I did contacted kiteboarding Asia the first time but to be honest they didn't gave a s*** once I arrived and they realised that I wasn't in need of course... I hung out with another school (Airstylers) and they were really good with me and my wife even if they did not make a single penny with us!!! I do not have any affiliation with them but wanted to mention Colin (the owner) as to me kiteboarding is all about knowing new people and have fun together, not just making money which is the single purpose of most kite schools.
Anyhow talking about conditions winds is typically light so probably don't need smaller kites, depending on your weight and skill level... Plenty of places to eat but not much nightlfe per say (compared to Hua Hua or Phuket at least). At the same time I go there to relax so it does not bother me at all. Water is standing depth to lauch and all that but gets deeper fairly fast... Small chops to small waves depending on wind strenght and directions... Lots of places to stay from $10 to hundreds U.S. per nights, depending on your budget...
Just send me a PM if you want more info!!!

Hey, I will be in Thailand from January until March. I will be kiting mostly in Koh Phangan - there is a great spot at Ban Tai beach, really friendly kite school with equipment rental and good wind for those three months.
If you need any more info let me know

Phuket, is a beautiful island of Thailand with great list of beaches. It is surrounded by some of the most scenic islands all over the world, making it a great place to learn and practice the sport of kite surfing. Several hotel and resorts are providing their services on Phuket, beaches you can choice it on your budget.

If you will find the wind in Hua Hin. Bring along your big kite12, 13 or 14m ok. That depends, of course, lose weight
