Nothing done behind a boat is legit, though. It just isn't a real sport. The pain and the difficulty are irrelevant. Lots of things in life are more painful or more difficult than pulling a trick behind a boat. But that's not the point. It just isn't a legit sport if someone else is pulling you around. You must be fully in control of your own destiny. Never going to happen when you're wakeboarding. Nice of them to develop some tricks that we can steal and craft into a real sport though. Tricks are going to be worked out much more quickly in a boring sport than a compelling sport. Take surfing for example. It is so solid and pure that it took guys about a hundred years before they started doing "tricks." They just didn't need them. But wakeboarding was probably around for about a week before guys started trying S-bends and shit. What the hell else are you going to do when you're getting pulled around behind a boat? Shit gets boring real fast. So anyway, thanks again for the tricks, guys.

You tell 'em Gone!

Wakeboarding is only fun when it's Saturday, it's sunny, there isn't any wind, you have loads of cash to feed into the gas tank of a boat (and a truck to pull it, and a place to launch it from), and you have someone who is willing to not have any fun (while you are) to drive the boat. You should also have a cooler full of beer to distract the driver so he doesn't see he is getting the raw end of the deal, but that in itself can lead to having the boat towed off an oyster bed, run-ins with law enforcement, and other unfortunate circumstances...

Once those stringent set of conditions are met, it's game on, but it still doesn't hold a candle to a well-powered kiting session.
