Serentiy: Fuerte Foiling Evolution

Postby gmb13 » Sat Dec 21, 2013 10:21 pm

Hi Guys,

I have had a few private request from you to show you what we have been up to at Magma on Fuerte this last year.

So here is a little peak into the experiments me and Helmut have been trying out since the beginning of the year.

It's not sales video as most of the stuff you will see are mainly "proof of concepts", so I did not put a lot of thought into the edit, but I think it is still interesting for you guys to see what we have been trying, especially on the board side of things. I for one am not a fan of the specialised Racing Foilboards as they are still to big to travel with. So I tried to make a few short designs that you will see. The great thing was also how well my 2 year old Freewave Proto works as a foil board. Definitely a great travel combo. Great wave board and foilboard in one. It will be my main travel board for sure this year.

Enjoy.

I'm Also glad i watched that ; but Sad at the same time.

The movements i see in the legs, in order to control the hydrofoil, happen to be
where the most amount of slop is in my prosthetic(s).
After watching that video, i'm now convinced that i can NOT ride a conventional
foil arrangement ! :(

New-Plan : " ? " .

Hi Bille,

I think we need to talk about how we can make it work for you.

I have made a lot of strides forward in making the Wings a lot more "autostable" so I am sure that we can make some compromises in design so we can make it work for you.

I have sent you a P.M. with my contact details so we can talk about how we can get you up and foiling. I just need to understand how your prosthetics work.

... In the video you will also see the different experiments in Foilboard and Wing designs that have come out of Gunnar's restless mind and have been brought to life by Helmut's skilled hands.
Gunnar, would you please post more pictures of the 2 foils used in this video ?
especially the left one under the white board with the strut/mast very forward and close to the whitish front wing.

Gunnar's Facebook blog is a good read - not just for hydrofoiling.

Don't give it up :!:
Maybe you could go with a SUP because a wider board has more space to move around
according to a Pro foil rider, I talked to yesterday.
Also a higher aspect new foil from Puerto Rico is much more stable,
but needs a little more wind
Also believe it or not he was using an 11m Velocity in 8 to 10 mph winds
and riding with his weight around 180 lbs :D
