Ozone Zephyr - 8 knots

Looks like Caloundra. The outgoing tide is at least 5 knots so that's 13+ knots apparent wind. The problem is that once you're in the air there's no power and you fall like a stone. The skill is in getting good pop.

I would love to have a light wind freestyle kite like this zephyr or a turbine. But in real world conditions what wind would you need on a standard twin tip to perform all my usual unhooked moves?

If there is a 5 knot current upwind in 8 knots of wind, well, then there is exactly the same conditions as if you were riding in 13 knots of wind regarding jumping, absolutely no difference whatsoever.

You DONT drop faster, nor slower, thats for sure

nice riding even if it is 13 knots this video shows that you can still have a lot of fun with the new light wind kites out there

Nice video, don't doubt it's 8knots but agreed the rip is easy 5 ontop.
Not forgetting the zephyr is a good kite and the rider has the advantage of the canopy size for float.

We have a creek here in Cleethorpes that rips like that. Yes you can have great fun wind against tide. Always funny when the non locals are amazed how well your going when they can barely get up. Simply local knowledge of the rips

Bullshit. It is most certainly true. You do not have the same float and glide that you would have if the wind was 5knots stronger.
