My point is that there are already curved mast foils available.

and Cariffino's first post was....

THE TRIUMPHANT ARCH OF THE T BAR FOIL MOVES THROUGH WATER FASTER THAN TRADITIONAL STRAIGHT SHAFT FOILS, ANOTHER INNOVATION FOUNDED BY CARAFINO IN THE YEAR 2009, BROUGHT TO THE MARKET FOR THE WORLD OF HYDROFOIL KITE BOARDING IN THE YEAR 2014

i don't know that either mfg copied the other., if that was the implication.
this concept has been used in ship building for several years. i'm not an engineer so i won't bother explaining the concept but my guess is that a straight shaft is much easier to make than a curved shaft.

The water bubbles created on the surface from turbulence, will travel down
a shaft if it's not raked forward a bit, ( it's called Ventilation ).

Placing fins on the shaft will also stop the air from following it, but that
takes more drag to accomplish the same as just raking it forward a bit.

And Nice back-track ya did there, with that second question !

looks sleek, although would there be a lot of drag around the mast -> fuselage join? looks quite wide.

the main challenge to reduce drag is to make the mast as thin as possible and combine that with a profile that has minimal drag with an aoa of 0°. "thin as possible" means that you need enough stiffness otherwise the board will wobble. i don't think that triumphant arch will make any noticable difference to a straight mast. what might be a good idea is to make the mast wider/thicker closer to the board. this way you add stiffness in an area that is in fact above the water most of the time.
