I don't think this is an engineered solution. The arch gives a much longer effective length to try and keep torsional deflection under control. The longer mast length also gives much greater wetted surface = more drag.

2 most successful "fast" foils (Sword and Spotz) use straight masts = keep it simple

More wetted surface, lower aspect ratio towards the foils.

Who says that a small amount ventilation on the back side of the mast is a bad thing?

There was no rake on the AC72's foils which travel faster and therefore are more prone unwanted trailing edge ventilation. The only rake present was a byproduct of trying to control the AoA of the daggerboards which was in the +-1 degree range during racing.

The design could work if there are some odd interactions that normal modeling does not reveal, but I doubt it is better than the straight Spotz, AA or semi straight Zeeko foils.

Also, the attachment plate is a copy of the Carafino original T bars.

i agree with easier to make--that's pretty obvious. But give some facts to less drag and less torsion. Twisting can be a problem as with the LIFT foil so i'm really interested in how you came to this conclusion.

I think it may be the lift foil that has a core as opposed to sword which may be solid carbon?
