Nitrous Shorts Harness/ Seat Harness good for hurt ribs?

Postby kitepilot » Wed Jan 04, 2012 3:41 am

I'm trying to get back on the water after a kiteloop gone bad. My ribs are still popping but other than that I'm moving ok. I was wondering if wearing those dakine nitrous shorts/seat harness would get me back out there sooner. They look like they would take all of the pressure off of my ribs, no riding up like my waist harness/impact vest.

+1 yes, toe side takes a little getting used to but much better for rib problems

Yes - you can get on the water way earlier with any kind of seat harness :thumb:

I like the Nitrous Shorts Harness... the only thing I don't like is that they seem a bit short. While out riding I find the bottom of the shorts pull up while riding making it possibly look like I'm wearing "short shorts". I have to reach and pull down each leg. While walking around the beach they're not bad though.

I see the Styler Shorts Harness look cool and longer in the leg made by LF. Anyone know if the newer Dakine Shorts are longer?

Yes, but be careful when you wipe out, you don't realize how much impact even a standard waist harness takes for you and your ribs. Maybe combo it with an impact vest...

Seat 24/7 . No one could ever convince me waist are better than seats. Better leverage, more comfortable, bar in reach , and no broken ribs.
Buy a sliding bar to go with it . Going toe side with my Dyna bar is a breeze.

Agree with Matt above. Dynabar and nitrous makes transitions more fun.

The Dynabar eliminated my rib pain because the hook can move up and down without twisting the spreader bar into my ribs. I use it with a seat harness.

The Dakine shorts are a great option to take if your going on an extend trip. I always pack a pair along with my regular waist harness. They pack small and are pretty light. If you have any issues with ribs or abrasion you have a back up that is a totally different fit than your waist harness.
