From a design perspective it is quite different to the super low aspect CARAFINO and closer to the high AR versions from all other brands.

Did the airchair not start it all, then Rush, then CARAFINO?

Hello,
Just to set the record a little more clear for those who do not know (there are many who already do) the history of board related hydrofoils.
Mike Murphy and Bob Wooley (air chair) designed and built sit down foils MANY years ago.
Thank you so much for changing my life! :D

http://www.hydrofoil.org/history.html

Most interesting is that THIS GENERAL DESIGN is still being used on most foils today!
Then stand up boards were introduced, the earliest photo I could find was from 2003.
You can see this picture at the above link!

And then Water gods LAIRD HAMILTON and RUSH RANDLE, and maybe others started tow in hydrofoiling. SUPER!!

Now for the big question?
Who was the VERY first person to use the Mike and Bob design, or any other with a KITE?
I do not know? Some one was there and knows the real truth!
PLEASE SOMEONE WHO DOES PLEASE LET US KNOW!! GREAT IDEA! 8)
If C, as he claims on you tube, to have invented kiteboard hydrofoiling, he simply took existing
technologies and combined them!
Can we consider this as inventing kiteboardhydrofoiling?

If they work, looks good!
If I were a wind surfer also and wanted to do both and this would work, why not?
I see it powered up and flying under the wind surf board, much more than I have seen the other monkeys new foil. just saying....

Hi All,

Yes I test a "V" foil (like hdropter). It doesn't work. The V foil (like the L foil) needs to be ride flat. So It is really difficult to ride like this.

You can see some picture one the Kitefoil forum.

Being a pioneer is a real service to the sport.
Whining on the other hand...

Reality is good performance could be had from benchmarked open source designs that anyone with basic composites skill could produce for a small entry price.
The market is about to be disrupted.
Good job to carafino for establishing user friendly quality products and leading the way toward more competitive pricing.
The next year or two look to be pretty interesting for foils.

Here is a solution to solve your wind issues Mango !

Even a 1980 old Windsurfer"s vintage rig can do the job !
No whitecaps, and without the vertical lift component brought by a kite, this foil is rather effective for a museum stuff :cool2: :cool2:

The meeting of two generations with nearly 35 years' of difference !

A bit wilder with a recent rig:
