GoPro fogging - this is ridiculous!

Hawaiians, thanks for your feedback about the Garmin. But for what I can see It seems that the Go Pro has a better FOV; unlike the video you made with the GP, I can't see the coast with the VIRB.

The field of viewFOV is about the same, to see the coast just aim the camera higher. To see the board, aim the camera lower.

Maybe you should invest in the battery bac pak case and stuff it with a cotton ball with a little water desaturater Also could put a little shave foam on the inside lense and then wipe clean. I dod that to my shower mirror in college and worked well

I work at Sony. One of the major problems is that the camera and in particular the sensor and CPU get warm, really warm, when recording. So it like a little mini sauna in there.

Im not on the engineeing team, and am in smartphone business, but hear about it when working on smartphones-

I´m sure it could be solved, but im not sure at what cost.

I put my gopro and it's case (separate) in the freezer prior to cold sessions. Close it up quick when you take it out and there is no moist air to fog up and condense when you get out.

It will ruin your battery for sure. What I used to do with the Gopro is to charge with the case open, the heat from charging will get rid of the moisture. Close the case as soon as I remove the charger.

The last gopro that worked for me was the 2, the 3 and 3+ just didn't cut it. If the Geonaute or the Voxx 360 work, I will get rid of the two go pro 2s I still have.

For people who have an iPhone, Optrix makes a case and mount for it. I got a case/mount to test, but unfortunately, the mount had issues that added vibration while mountain biking.

Warm air can hold significantly more moisture than cold. Think 10-20 times more moisture between a freezing day and a hot summer day. When a bit of warm air trapped in the case gets colder, you get fog.

Freezing your GoPro would not hurt it and most certainly not the battery. People use these in the arctic, for example. WAAAAY colder than your freezer. They work just fine.

I've a GoPro HD1 and the ROAM2... R2 has better IQ and it never fogs.

Looking at side-by-sides on the Youtubes, GP3+ has the best IQ but needs meddling to make the colors right and it still fogs. Other companies like Drift are selling at the same price as the GP but not offering the same specs... it's easy to see why people are buying GP.

The first time I used my new GP 3 it fogged up. I called Go Pro and they said I had a faulty camera and that it should never fog. I took it back to where I purchased it and they gave me a new one. So far it has not fogged on me once.
