New Axis Pads and straps - shock absorbing material

Anyone knows whats up with this new material ?
Is it a revolution in pads or do all brands use the same material ?

D3O? The Aboards pads I have with D3O are amazing.

Oh, maybe Alpha gel... although that seemed to die a quiet death a few years back.

These pads by Axis are just great ! i am not a big fan of the "toe ups" but these are the only ones i can ride with. The shock absorbing is pefect, still with a lot of sensitivity for the board.

I agree that these things look pretty cool. I was checking them out at the SurfExpo this past August and was really impressed. He also has a footpad (maybe these, I'm not sure) that has a concavity on the side that keeps spray from hitting it and getting redirected into your face. Very cool!

I doubt it's D30 material. In My opinion, D3O is a poor choice for padding. Would serve better for motorcycle use where soft material would have flex until impacted then it could protect in its hard state along with some other soft padding.

The Axis pads have a great pattern for grip. It feels like foam coated with some kind of foam rubber coating. It's soft, comfy and grippy. I think the strap material helps because it has a lot of grip. It holds you in from below and above your foot!

Got to meet Adrian today and had a look at the new Vanguard... if the wind co-operates while we're both in the same town, I'll be able to demo the goodies too

The new pads and straps are the shiznit.
The pads are big (but the plan is to make a smaller ones next year) so even my US size 13 have plenty of room and rubber under my whole foot - boots won't be a problem.
They're also angled down, so water that sprays the pads will be deflected down - clever!
The super-absorbant material is Poron, and there's a good piece of it under your heels.
Light green stuff is nice and grippy and there's enough width in the whole pads to angle your feet against the straps a la Toby without running out of pad...
The straps look great - they have 5 velcro straps to hold themselves down, so there's multiple ways of getting your foot locked in. Then a cover velcros down to cover the whole deal - looks slick.

... think I might be replacing my other pads n' straps with these very soon

The range of sizes in the AXIS pro pads-straps set is just amazing, anything from young kids to gorillas ! really versative and comfortable.

Yup, they hold shape well too... 3rd session yesterday, finally had to readjust them. Unlike other straps which require several adjustments per session. They're the comfiest, snuggest-fitting pads I've ever used... I can do them up nice n' tight but they don't hurt my feet, like having too-tight ski boots on.

And the boards are fantastic I've been riding the 2014 Vanguard 137x42 the past three days and it's just been excellent, both way out the top end and down the bottom. I don't want to give it back so I'm just going to have to buy one.

Adrian reckons the carbon version is even better... hard to believe!

This is the material that AXIS is using on all of their pads.
As far as I know, it's exclusive to AXIS Kiteboarding at this point.
Very innovative, and amazing shock absorption.
