I've been thinking about this too and sometime soon i'm gonna test this idea:

measure the diameter of the strut you want to attach the camera to and then buy a pvc pipe with a slightly smaller diameter than the strut's. Then cut it in a fashion similar to this:

you can then attach a gopro mount to the middle part of the pvc like for instance a tripod mount, or something fancier that allows the camera to rotate like some guys are selling on the internet.

In any case, as i said this is just a rough idea. If you try it, make sure to secure the camera with a leash to the pump leash attachment.

hey breeze any reason you can't use a line mount? I'm new to this gopro thing myself.

If the strut is not stiched you can use the helmet mount accessory.

gopro on a kite can give a pretty cool perspective especially if you're riding in a unique spot where you just can't understand it unless you get that wide angle overhead shot.
anyhow I was tinkering with a new way of mounting a camera to my strut. I always used a ipod armband but was looking for something that would go on easier. always a hassle trying to feed the velcro around the strut and then trying to tighten it.
I decided to try a tube of 3" diameter polycarbonate. the wall is pretty thin so not sure how it will work yet. what is cool is once I cut through it the material springs in to form a smaller diameter. I don't see why this system couldn't work on a split strut system,
I haven't used this setup yet, but before I do I will line it with some rubber sheet to keep it from sliding and moving around.

The guy is asking about split strut kites...

That means the canopy is sewn on either side to the strut, there is no way to wrap something entirely around it.
