finished my first foil!! :thumb:
64 hours logged.
yestarday i finished vaccum bagging wings with a layer of carbón to stiffen the wing.
still having some air bubles in the lamination but im happy with the outcome.
funny story happen yestarday when i had the idea of putting the wing on the oven to cure the epoxi at 100 degrres celcious
got distracted whatching an episode of Two and a half man.... when i came bach
my front wing had developed bubles i guess it was the wáter content that vaporazied.
next time preset oven in 50 degreees.
both wing came out rock solid.
now i need somes sanding to get the small defects out.
maiden voyage is set for this weekend!!

Awesome, nice work :thumb:

You have never ridden af hydrofoil before, right ? (or do I remember wrong here ?)

Can be a bit tricky to tell how it works then, and how to set the trim and angles

Would just say this in advance, in case you get dissapointed - that, it could be a good idea to get some experienced foil rider to try also ?

Looks good, love the project :naughty:

Hope you take care of the bubbles in the fiberglass, if not, that will delaminate more when the wing flexes I am afraid.
But, yes, great project, and I hope it flies well!

thanks guys!!
the Project was aimed at learning how to build a Wood foil and learn vaccum lamination.
I must confess that i enjoyed it obsesively for the last month.
the lamination is the trickiest part to get the mirror finish but i guess perfection will come with practice.
can the bubles be filled by drilling a small hole and injecting resin?

all the wings are 0 degreed in triming.
i hace built several PET shims from coke bottles to increase angle of wings.
it will be very hard to find someone that rides a foil in these parts of the countryside.
i ve seen all the videos i could find and the only way to learn ist to spend some time on it! :o
i hope im a fast learner  .
I ran out of carbón and resin so this design will have to do for now.

Specs came out like this:
the hole setup with board is 7.1 kilos
front wing is 756 cm2 x 170mm chorr lenght.x 470cm span x 9mm chord thickness.
back wing is 360cm2 x 110mm chord lenght x 400cm span x 9mm chord thickness.
fuselaje cameout at 730mm from tip to tip x 60mm tall x 32mm wide.
strut is 24.5mm thickness x 142mm chord x 870mm tall.
foil is epller 817 on keel and half half on wings.
all winggs are trimmed at 0 degree.
vessel will be name Helena after my litle daughter :baby: .
She has enjoyed seen me built her plane.!! her words.

Will ride thiss weekend and shoot video.
hope to get feedback from teh video from experienced riders.

Next Project:
slimer everything from keel to wings.
Pedro.

you can drill and fill or grind/sand out and feather in a patch.
Or sand down the whole surface and throw another layer of glass (or better, carbon) on it as on the top side.
I would give it a try I think, but at least fill to keep the core dry and avoid delamination.
The problem you had is probably outgassing from the porous core as it heats.
If you are curing at high temperature, seal the core with epoxy before the lamination to avoid this.
Otherwise, you might need vacuum as well, or an autoclave. You can also get good results by letting the cure happen at room temperature, then putting it in the oven the next day once the resin is hard. If you use the oven some more, heat the wing SLOWLY, starting with a cold oven, set it to a low temperature, gradually increase over a couple of hours, hold for a few hours, turn off but let it cool slowly, again a few hours before opening.
