Kite quiver sizes

Postby Bradn » Sun Feb 09, 2014 11:11 am

Hey all,
trying to find the best possible quiver size

say you are going to a regatta somewhere with extremely varying wind could be 7kn or 35 and were average size, what would you take? and why

theoretical sizes ok, for instance 10.5, 18.5 etc.

recap (correct me if I'm wrong)
size categories
0-7
7-10
10-15
15+

We all say we can do it but the reality is depending on the regatta not to many will race in 35 anyway so you probly dont need to cover that for the very rare occasion it may happen, yacht club would think twice at sending people out with a forecast over 30, so you could start your quiver off at 8 I reckon.
Sail Auckland for instance would think long and hard at sending anyone out over 30.

You also gota think about the bouys and will they hold, the people in the start boat and there ability to rescue people when shit happens and this is why most organisers would probly call it off if it gets to windy, most of these people are voulenteers and not pros at handling kites in light winds let alone when it's blowing its tits off!

Dont forget you can also extend the kite wind range with longer or shorter lines
