looking at ALL the pictures and videos Dimitri posted I see some serious conning on the trailing edge of this kite.
I had a kite that looked like that several years ago. It really flew like shit, I let a few guys ride before I returned it and they thought it had power, well It had pull in the hook but it dragged you downwind as soon as you let off your edge slight bit.
Looked just like the pictures of the Infinity
Conning in the trailing edge is a recipe for a downwind drag dog of a kite.
I guess some riders like the feeling of the pull on the hook. If that's you kind of kite the Infinity may be for you.
Big D you may want to open up that trailing edge a bit and let it breath a bit.
You won't get that silly feeling of power that does nothing for performance.
Absolute horseshit.
The infinity and the Fat Lady do not have a defective leech line issue or a design flaw related to cupping or leech problem.
Momi has designed great flying kites for Epic and Blade (and others) for years, to try to say otherwise is just you piling on and talking talking talking about kites you have not flown.
The Infinity and the Fat Lady belong to that group of lower aspect lightwind kite that is specifically made to be different from the larger "apparent wind" group.
There are lots of us out there who like how those kites fly and have no problem getting them to go upwind, produce plenty of power and perform exactly as we like them to.
The Infinity/Fat Lady/Big Mama etc work better in our light wind conditions than the higher aspect monster kites.
My local crew had 7-8 Zephyrs, Turbines etc. here at one time...the last Zephyr is for sale right now.
We need lightwind kites to turn fast, and relaunch fantastic...because they ALL are going to drop out of the sky at some point during most lightwind sessions, in non-coastal wind.
We need to be able to "figure eight" them quickly when the wind drops to almost zero, while we bob around and wait for the wind to cycle back up.
Those of us here that still bother with lightwind kites, pair something smaller and faster with a good directional board to have fun on the light days, otherwise we don't waste our time.
It is hilarious to hear these arguments from those of you living in lightwind coastal locations because ALL OF THESE LIGHTWIND KITES WORK PERFECTLY WHERE YOU ARE, your conditions are so easy, it's a joke.
Well Old Broken Big D's Favorite fan boy, Sounds like you designed the kite for Big D... I guess we should all just take your word for it and assume its as good as the other kites tested and ignore the Average Joe's being that you designed the kite and know exactly how it performs and Bid D posted all the testimonials and pictures. ITS GOTTA BE THE BEST.
I'll just ignore the Average Joe's' who put forth a very complete review of what they experienced. NOT........
I decided to jump in on the bullshit band wagon and give my opinion based on all the visuals I saw posted. I mean it looks just like the crap kite I had a few years ago, what other conclusion would I come to... Did you see that trailing edge and the video it looks like its about to back-stall. Sounds kinda like the bullshit you write.
Unlike the review for OceanAdventures which I really appreciate (Thank you) it will save me time and money when I decide to demo and buy a new kite after the dumping the crappy kite it ride now that sucks at relaunch and has limited wind range of 10-30 mph and won't let you down after a jump. BTW I was not comparing my current kite to the Infinity I never mentioned what I ride. I'm actually in the market for a new kite.
That being said This is the reason for the thread, Thank you OceanAdventure for your reviews

I believe the actual review has been lost behind all the needless defense. So here is it again in summary.

In lighter winds, 9knots and below the Infinity wants to pull you down wind and it is hard to hold any line. 10-12 knots it's a decent kite with plenty of power and starts to ride upwind better. 14 knots and up the kite gets overpowering and is not as comfortable to fly.

Dimitri's videos just reinforce all of these points.

The point why we don't recommend this kite in light wind is because there are kites that you can ride upwind in less wind, and ride past 13-14 knots and still be comfortable and having fun.

Most people are not going to buy a large light wind kite and then have a 14m kite also. Bigger guys will have fun on their light wind kite until the wind is too much and then will ride a 13-12m kite.

You could go out and get a C-kite and probably get just as good performance in the small wind range of the Infinity, without the good relaunch of course. And guys who's style would compliment the infinity would probably be happier with a c-style kite.

They were talking about how they were getting big air in 10 knots back in 1999, so in our opinion the Infinity, which when it came out in the beginning had speed on the bigger light wind kites, now really as nothing to offer different that other kites now do better in a bigger range of winds.

OnB might well have a point about lower aspect light wind kites being better for gusty inland conditions. I dont know if he is Dmitris No 1 fan boy, I think Soul19 might have overtaken him :) From a staying in the air perspective something like a Cloud will outperform say the Infinity. But the clouds relaunch is obviously not as good.

It is important to bear in mind that these reviews are meant to be from the perspective of the average kitesurfer who is likely to sail in costal conditions. The Infinity is to a certain extent a specialist light wind kite and should be marketed as such, but there are probably riding styles and conditions where it is the best choice.

I'm actually in the market for a new kite.
That being said....cut/paste....cut/paste...cut/paste.
The team rider/fanboy accusation/argument comes up every time I make comment about an Epic kite.
I currently own exactly one 4G Epic kite and I fly three different brands in my current quiver, so your comment is further horseshit.
I defend the gear when somebody talks out their as.s, otherwise I keep my mouth shut.
Obviously, I've nothing to do with designing anything kite related, but I have flown 18 different sizes and models of Blade and Epic kites since 2009, so I am very familiar with the aspects of a MoMi designed kite......and you clearly are not, so one of us is talking out his as.s and one of us is not.
I talk about the gear I've owned or have experience with, whatever the brand.
You are correct, you did just decide to jump in on the bullshit wagon, with no first hand experience to back it up.
I did not say the Infinity was the best....anywhere on this forum...check my post history.
Said that type of kite works here, said that the other types have a history of not working as well here.
I've said the Infinity has a lot of power, said it relaunches fantastic, said there are lots of people who go upwind great on it, and it performs very well for them.
I also said most of us here are now on smaller kites than the Infinity and the rest of the kites in these tests.
Saw the video, and I don't know what that crew are doing but the Infinity is not a kite that stalls.
You can like MoMi kites or not like MoMi kites, but he figured out how to kill stalling on an SLE many years ago.
Just because you had a crap kite a few years ago, and you think it looks like an Infinity, is nothing of any basis to make your statements on.
You are complaining about your current lightwind kite....
...it has a limited range of 10-30 mph / 8.6 to 26 knots??
...and it keeps you in the air too long after you jump??
WTF are you talking about???

So you haven't actually ridden the infinity X tream?

Don't know, I just try and never make a comment about a kite I've never flown...and I've ridden way too many so I'm always commenting...lol :D...I also never extrapolate kites I've ridden to others as their are way too. Many variables involved. But hey that's just me, we are all entitled to our ideas.

Steady boys, there's ways of saying what you wanna say without getting too harsh... :)

Quite funny reading!
Funny how the thread has been jacked!!
I do know if I want a accurate review of a light wind kite, the crew in Florida would be who I listened to.

Westozzy,

You have integrity, and you are spot on.. No I have never flown the infinity just looked at the video and pictures (couldn't help myself with all the pictures and videos posted) I was being facetious to make a point! I wanted to see how many fan boys would show up and make more bullshit claims.
#1 Fan boy Old Broken commented on all aspects of the Infinity because he owns one. OH NO he never said he owns one, but he has flown one OH NO that was a V1 or has OB ever flown one. Have you flow the V3 Infinity Old Broken. Or are you just commenting based on your experience with the Epic kites you have flown but not the current kite in the review, that your so righteously defend to the point of looking pretty friggin silly

Again I would like to thank Ocean Adventures and all other Kite shops that take the time to give us open honest reviews of kites the have tested back to back. This is very helpfull and I would love to see more of this.

I believe the actual review has been lost behind all the needless defense. So here is it again in summary.

You are so full of shite!
You are now claiming you posted in this thread to see if you could get a response out of me??
That is a lie that a famous poster in lightwind threads likes to claim!! ...not very original....why would you care what I'm off doing for 26 pages?
26 pages had been jacking along without a word from me, and you knew your post on a Tuesday would solicit a response from me on a Thursday ?
...try to stick to things that are something close to the truth now. God hates liars.
You said very clearly, that you came to jump on a bandwagon, don't backpedal now.
.
To answer your questions, been on the Infinity V1 and V2 have flown the Renegade 13M V2 and owned the Renegade 13M V3 , which Dimitri will tell you is a mini Infinity, and it benefited from similar changes from V2 to V3 as the Infinity did, so I've a pretty clear idea of the latest Infinity.
Been on the Fat Lady and currently fly a Big Mama 15M, so I have some experience with the lower aspect big kites, and talked about that group of kites.
I have made nothing more than a few comments about about the Infinity in other threads, a year or more ago, but I generally don't talk about that kite because I have flown them but not owned them.
I owned Zephyr and Big Mama and Renegade 13M V3 in the same year, so I know their differences and similarities, but my tastes seem to be running towards smaller kites for light wind, as I said to begin with.

While the mud flies and we wait for the FL crew to chime in on cloud etc...
I'll step up to correct another canard tossed out by someone who just might not really know what he is talking about:
Cloud relaunch.
If you drop the cloud and somehow get it all twisted up or rolled, sure, it's just as much a pain as any other kite to relaunch. Perhaps even more. But first thing, the cloud is hard to crash. You almost can't stall it and it won't hindenburg. Its lightwind stability is awesome.
But you can crash it, and when you do, it relaunches really easily thanks to its LE curve, long wing tips and super light weight. Or so it has seemed to me flying it for almost a year.

OB Never claimed to see if I could get a response from YOU Old Broken (Ego Issues dude) I said Fan Boys...Well Guess who showed up #1 Fan boy. At the ready to defend the Epic Infinity that you never even flew, your just here to bully anyone who disagrees with your Bullshit
Now your bringing God into this You are one sick dude.. Get Some Help man...
Like I said more bullshit from fan boys YOU have not even flown the kite. WOW...

I REALLY Appreciate the review from "THE AVERAGE JOES" They actually flew the kite back to back with other kites in the review. Thanks Again Guys, keep up the good work.
This is what the tread is all about
