Listen to the interview from Tom Hebert...riders are enjoying it so are the crowds.

Sorry :naughty:

I think you misinterpret.

I've never promoted PKRA style comps. I've also never said there is anything wrong with KOTA. Im stoked with it, glad the riders are stoked with it, and think its awesome there is a huge crowd getting into it.

Your the one trying to brand it as airstyle. If you want an argument, then thats what we can have it about.

The event media certainly isn't aligning itself with airstyle. Are you listening to the commentators or just selectively picking out what you want to see/hear?

So I'm not sure what your sorry about, but I don't need your pity and am certainly not the one in denial about what KOTA is.

Just heard Reno?

You guys are saying that the sport will not have that kind of events or world tour.

Just listen...and tell me if the sport needs events like this or not.

I am 42, I don't care about joining comps, I care about the sport and its future. I see what is missing, I hear a lot of what is missing, and that's what I am telling.
I have my fun inventing new tricks and not getting hurt doing them.

I don't organize events, I don't like riding events, I cannot sponsor events.
All I can do is tell what people tell me and what I think the sport needs to get more money involved so finally the riders can live from it, put money aside, and don't risk their health with every landing.

That kind of event or world tour are NOT airstyle.

I am listening and clearly think your manufacturing opposing opinion that just isn't there. I don't think anyone has ever posted in an airstyle thread that KOTA is not or should not be part of the sports future. Its not jumping and major height that your detractors have a problem with. Its dangling and valuing artistic impression over commitment and power as integral components of degree of difficulty.

Anyone who dismisses airstyle is not being critical of KOTA. They are clearly completely different things. Its pretty clear what the judges in Cape Town are looking for. Im not sure what you are listening to, but they haven't said airstyle once but keep repeating the words: commitment, risk level, power, amplitude and are scoring moves such as unhooking, passing, and pulling freestyle moves with kiteloops at height over anything old school or airstyle oriented.

Most people see it for what it is.

Your the one who claiming it as stricktly hooked and a validation of airstyle.

We will be holding our first Airstyle Tournament in ras sudr Egypt. At Fly Kitesurfing. We were wounding when it comes to judging is there an agreed on point system. Does anyone have a point system in place for each trick when it comes to Airstyle,

Whatever, KOTA is actually freestyle as it should be.
The freestyle we see is wakestyle.

I am doing Airstyle, and even if I am the only one, that is fine for me. All others can do what they want and like. I have the max fun I can get on the water. And I know I get a lot of attention from the beach. I am promoting the sport my way...everyone can do it their way.

All free to do what you want! :remybussi:

Great Awn, be sure your spectators and media will love it !

Judging with points like PKRA is boring, since then you will only see few tricks. And who can judge a difference of 0,1 ? All relative.

Go for overall impression, which should include: show factor, diversity of tricks (including high jumps, surface tricks (slides etc), transitions etc), technical difficulty, innovation, height, style.

And you rather want different tricks than switch tricks to keep it more exciting to watch.
The riders are the stars and should be treated like this, but they should be committed to go out and do a show for spectators and media.

And make sure to have AIRSTYLE judges, nothing else, since they will be out for buddy judging only and do not stand behind the discipline. Or even a judge who never judged nor kites, but purely judges on the show factor!

for me, airstyle has more in common with landboarding,
board off, rotations foot out and deadmen are all staples of a landboarders arsenal
have you ever tried landboarding Toby?

oh yea, most of the time when I landboard im on a bigger kite then when I kitesurf. so you'd be right at home on a 14/16m

No, too dangerous!

Who did those tricks first, land kiting or kiteboarding?

Well, one trick I got from the landboarders!
A boardoff rotation followed by a one foot.
Nice trick, but one water you can make it look even more stylish ;-)
Video coming somewhen, have it also as drone shot!
