My Garmin Virb Elite died after two months, I contacted Garmin, they sent me a new battery. It still does't work. After sending them the serial number and one week of wasted calls. They said they will not honor the warranty. They said I did not buy it from their authorized dealer. I think all these big corporations have gone too far, they try to fix the price. Isn't price fixing illegal?

I bought it from eBay with Buy It Now, on a small fine print in the warranty card, it says purchases from online auctions are not covered, except from Garmin directly.
I think they want to dissuade their dealers from discounting. This is amounting to price fixing.

That's lame. You can bet the dealer's don't give a shit either, they've got the money in your pocket and don't care about return business, I guess.

I've had stuff for the motorbikes, bought second-hand and told the manufacturer that and STILL had good service, cheap upgrades etc as if I'd bought it from them in the first place. Some businesses just don't get it, eh.

I won't be buying a Garmin then, cos I'm not paying the rip-off mark-up to buy it locally... if it's anything like GoPro, it'll be marked up just under 100% to US$ value :angryfire:

Heard a few stories the other way too, with GoPro... fogging is still a deal-killer for me.

Yes it does, and it can be controlled through almost any Garmin equipment as well.

Hawaiis - That's frustrating. I think you should try to email them again asking for a discount on a new one.
BTW did any water get into it? did you use the waterproof case?

They have stopped responding to my email, I did not use the optional dive case. I think the water got into the unit from the back where the connectors are only covered by a loose rubber flap. That look like a design flaw.
