You might actually want to take a look at the Airush Apex 135. It will give you a blend of what you are looking for. It takes the rocker from the Livewire, so you are getting a more comfortable ride through chop, with an asymmetrical heelside rail for better upwind performance. It uses a "venturi concave" instead of the channels that the Livewire has which allows for a better low-end performance as well.

I am sure there are a few people on the forum that have tried it and can comment.

The Apex is a beautiful board, the natural range is massive and it's a very smooth and comfortable ride. Low end is better than the protoy IMHO and the top end more comfortable. It will take a lot of enthusiastic riding, but if you want to go harder then look at the livewire, it's surprisingly civilised for a board that Alex Paster uses at the highest levels.

I have had some time on the 2014 Apex. Great free ride performance with fantastic pop!. Solid upwind. The pads are comfortable with a good range of adjustment. My regular board is a Nobile NHP and this Airush Apex is right with it regarding planing and upwind. It actually IMO pops better being a bit wider at the ends.

The livewire is pretty good in chop, never sprays the face and it has such a hardcore command / grip over the kite (I mean it has line snapping amounts of edge grip when you want it - which explains why it's so good as a technical unhooked board - you can kick the kite to the front of the window like you would kick a football) that if it's choppy you can reign in your speed in a heartbeat and free it off again as soon as your able. That said, it's quite front foot oriented, and doesn't cut through the heavy chop at speed as well as the apex, but when you compare the Livewire to a 'traditional' old school stiff, flat, square freestyle board it's a million times better!
