I am sure the Sword boys already have a KFA and are taking measurements to check it out. KFA wouldn't even know they shipped one to them...

just my 2 cents

I am sure it was just coincidence that sword shipped 5 swords foils to oz for the guys at in the loop I think it was, Marv has a link with them then shortly after KFA come with their foil that is really different from the swords...

To be fair though the first kfa foils had no rear riser for the back foil unlike the sword , the new wing sets that they have evolved do now look substantially different too. Putting further difference between them

Just thinking,
Where are the guys or gals who see that kiteboardhydrofoiling is taking off and will design and build a t bar with easily interchangeable wings?
This would allow using a lower A R wings to learn with.
If they also had more surface area the beginner could fly slower, safer.
And by using a thicker profile they could be made of much cheaper Fiber glass (or something else) and not carbon.
I am afraid that a lot of people might test a higher A R foil and finding it hard will quit, when it is not hard to learn if you are a confirmed kiteboarder, have the proper set up, conditions and a little coaching.
Then after one can fly a lower A R wing set comfortably you could mount your thinner ,medium A R wing set and progress.
I feel that the low A R set could be used again If you choose to ride waves or gusty strong wind and to learn new moves?
When you have flown your medium A R set for a while and (maybe) want to go faster, bingo, mount your high A R thin wing set and fly fast!
And do struts, fuselages and wings need to be made of carbon?
I learned on a self made 19 layer 300 g front wing that is still loaned to friends to learn, works well after 5 years, alu rear wing. This foil has a wood core strut and fuse with F glass skin, it has surface cracks but still flying good enough to learn with.
It sure seems to me that you should be able to build a foil set up that works well for less money?
How many times have been to your kite boarding spot and been unable to have fun because the wind is 5 to 10 MPH? Foils allow this for the ones who can afford or able to build, who will change this?
For sure if I was younger and had some cash backing I would go for it.
And you? Thoughts, Ideas? :?:

Hello Revhed,

Ive been looking for a excuse to buy a cnc router for a long time.
today you can buy a good one cheaper tan you can buy a foil!
check this www.probotix.com
all sizes for all your needs.wings, mast and fuselaje.
the thing is you can build something but you need to try it and experience
on wáter to determine its user friendly.
I can build it but i live 2hours from the beach and havent had time to learn and progress.
The ones who can like Hawaiis are trobleshouting their designs as we speak.
after all my building ours and learning the vaccum bagging i believe tehre will be foils for 500 us$ in 2 years tops.
Wood and fiber glass are cheap enough and available almost everywhere.
i takes about the same time to make a board tan it takes to make a foil.
Cnc routers are here to make its posible.

funny is that i just counted the amount of foil maker making racing foils to 9 builders and contenders for high end foils.
None making begginer foils(neutral desing with exchangable wings).
shouldnt the industry focus on acessible gear for the existing kiters?
In many countries like mine(Chile) this sport is as elitist as it gets.gear to expensive !
sarcasticly it has one of the biggest coastal streachs in south america and the smallest fleet of sailling whatever.
i guess sailing is a heritage not left by spaniards colonies.

You sure would think so! Maybe once the race foil market is supplied they will focus on the average guy who just wants to fly for fun!
And be able to afford it. :D
Please keep us informed if you get a cnc and start to make wood core F glass laminated parts.

Many of the top foil manufacturers like Spotz do have interchangeable front wings. For beginners the larger size wing is often considered easier (although I am not so sure about this). No parts are interchangeable between manufacturers though. Hopefully standards may emerge in the future.

Think twice before buying an "easy" foil board that is slow and unresponsive. After riding my new Spotz foil I tried my old 2008 Carafino and found it far less fun (I expect the new Carafinos will be improved). I believe that learning on a top performing foil is not too much more difficult than an "easy" one. Remember when you first learned to kiteboard and you were probably taught on a big wide board with a slow "easy" kite... aren't you glad you didn't buy that beginner equipment.

how much did you pay for you high end toy?
to me it would cost higher tan $4000 dolars with shipping and tax.
my $200 dollar one has been much more fullfilling in knowledge.
maybe when ill get good at it it will be justifiable to buy high end foil!! :thumb:
maybe by that i can build them too! :bye:

I would agree completely ,but which commercially available foil fits this other than the first caraf?
I still do not see a mid range offering?
But I have not seen the spotz with the available bigger lower a r f wing so maybe this is good?
