:thumb: nice, and yes, do tell, was it a foam or wood core?
Mine are mostly cedar strip with beefy epoxy or urethane rails, last twin tip was 134x42, 4 channels, 18oz skins, kind of heavy gloss coat, 2.7kg.
No doubt skinnier rails, lighter top coat and a little voodoo the build could lose 200-300g, even without using vacuum or lighter glass etc.
I'd love to try paulownia but it's costly as no one has it locally.

Just like foam boards they vary on a number of factors, type of wood being one. Weight is one of the biggest misconceptions with kiteboards, unless your doing board-offs it doesn't make a difference. Especially when were talking less than a kg.

I've been building my board from foam (Guirit Corecell M80) and tbh it's really cheap for a structural foam in the UK (£40 for an 8x4 sheet, 1/4in thk)
Sounds a lot cheaper than what i used to pay, wheres that from?

The mixed resin alone came to nearly 1.5kg in yesterdays layup. Can you give us the full layup construction of the above, i'm intrigued how you keep it so light.

Ouch. That is expensive if WS.

I do not use more than 350g for a finished product. But, as seen from before, we differ on the weight issue:) It is a personal preference.

2.1kg is light from a cedar wood I recon. Paul. would be even lighter. My plank: 1560x48x11 = 2465g

Corecell A500 or 600. No rail material just the top skins where they meet. 20 oz triax each side and texalium 10oz. Done in a pneumatic press so resin is really minimized. Also the finish is done during the press so no extra fillers or paint to add weight. Some pics on windego.ca.

Cheers

Nope, I am using a bamboo (doesn't drink epoxy at all), which has got only 2x200g biax FG (or 180g sometimes) and a corecell top layer with carbon. Plus a PU rails.

As you see here:

http://downunderbloghr.blogspot.com.au/ ... anska.html

For the top FG and gluing a top layer, I've used only 62g epoxy. For the carbon and corecell layer I've used 52g 5:1.

For the bottom FG and a topsheet this is the 207 epoxy mixture from my diary:
21(A)+6(B), 14+4, 21+6 (remember, 207 is 3.5 by weight)....
which is 72 grams.
I never ever calculate any FG-epoxy ratios, if I need more, I mix more as seen on the above examples:) 207 is slow anyway...

Than it goes epoxy finish before varnish, which is: 7+2, 10.5+3 (next day) + a few more...

Makes it way below 350g...I can do a diary for my next one as always.

So, yeah, I'm quite happy with my epoxy usage. Enviro friendly boards:) With the SuperSap from Entropy that would be even more environmentally friendly.

D.

PS
My current board has got 200+ hours on the water, almost 2 years young :)

I don't remember exactly and I am in cape hatteras kiting. The cores weigh almost nothing so a bit less than1kg resin and 1kg cloth is about right for a 135.
