I have hit fishing lines, rocks, but have seen seals, turtles, flying fish, and tropical fish due to better view.

Good point about seeing
Do you wear polarized sunglasses by any chance to eliminate the majority of horizontal reflections ?

One would think that since most foilriders eyes are scanning quickly the water @ 7-8 ft of height...
....seeing clearly through the water down below for scenery and obstacles would be a plus

Two years ago I hit a reef at full speed. I was very surprised that impact hole at Magma front foil was only 3mm dia.

A big dissappointment was an anchor line left by a ship gone with divers for training.

Last year I've met a flying fish that was smart enough to avoid the crash in the air.

Where I am foiling we have a lot of trash in the water and partially submerged plastic bags. Damn people :nono:

Most of the time I miss them but if you're not wearing polarized glasses then it's hard to see them until it's almost too late. It's almost comical when you find yourself saying Oh Sh***** followed by F***** and slam into the water, still is no fun when it happens.

I hit one thick plastic bag so hard that the nose of the strut went right through the bag and it took a lot of work to clear the bag while fighting with waves and high wind.

I see a lot of flying fish as well. :thumb:

He is a she by the way L M!
Never heard of a man named Cynthia!
Back on topic,
Just today 3 of 4 foilers got tangled in fishing nets!
They were also outlaw as they were closer than 300 m, but so are we as we often fly within 300 m.
Two had to swim out to their tangled t bars as for fear of getting feet , legs tangled while flying kites.
One was lucky enough to stay connected via 5th line, untangle and relaunch.
There were bouees and we knew to keep a large distance but these nets drift sometimes 100s of meters.
Then a large boat passed and we could see and hear the prop chewing up the net!
Anyway,
Be advised that fishing nets can be absoulty no fun while flying foils and be 100s of meters from where you might think they are! :o
And for sure a good knife can come in handy!! I like my Jacknife on a bunji around my neck and have used it!
