this is not based on my experience ( I only have the 2014 regular more expensive version), but based on some comments from other forums/comments:
the cheaper TT version has, due to the build technology, apparently a slightly different, less rounded shape... this apparently translates in a slightly less smooth feeling...
I would go for the cheaper TT if you:
- travel a lot (ok, its heavier, but also sturdier)
- are into big airs with a directional
- do not depend on lowend (the 5.5 is not available in TT, and the shape of the regular one is known to be THE lowend king... raceboards excluded)

i think that new cork layer on the bamboo construction for 2014 makes a big difference . overall the new board feels much more slashy carvy and the deck feels competely different in the chop. super smooth.
i didnt realize the 2013 felt harsh but by comparison to the new one it does.

Yeh my buddy has both and is raving about the new one and he's more or less a Surfboard rider. Much better feel and much better 'carve' ability as you say.

by "the new one", you mean the 2014 Nugget with the "premium" bamboo & cork construction, right?
because the "newest one", is the 2014 TT one... no bamboo, no cork, edgier, stiffer, not so smooth, etc.
