how many people have flamed use for using a seadoo in the past for tow up 8 years ago and now you can do it by yourself . if shit happens you can break your neck and not come back...
Is it the same thing? I don't think really since you have the trigger. Clearly some safety to eject the foil is in order. But hey lets see where this goes. In light wind it must be doable using some common sense.

not just that the spreader bar/ harness/kitelines are made to take that much stress. When we did a few pull ups many many moons ago.. we straighten a hook on a spreader bar in a day.. what is stopping the lofting and then falling 50+ feet?
people slam the guys that do the high jumps snowkiting ( the kite gliding down the side of the mountain ) for the same reasons
just a bad idea all the way around.
Stan if you want to fly buy a paraglider or a powered paraglider. it is made to fly
I feel the same way as you guys about the missile and the dropping like a stone too. But there are lots of other things we do kiting all the time that are kind of crazy too. Like raceboards and foilboards with sharp points all over the place. Then we have the kite lines wrapping around you in surf if you are having a bad day.
I also think a pullup behind a seadoo is quite a different situation. There you are getting way higher than you should in no wind. On the SG you are at least riding in wind and just tricking the jump basically. If you cut the SG off you should be coming down just like any other jump from 20-30ft or so. I would not want to play with 100ft stuff but lowish like Damien is doing looks like fun with the right wind and water conditions.
Pretty cool concept from the sailing physics angle. Is there a guy doing this with a paraglider and not a kite somewhere?
I saw this concept somewhere before, however this Seaglider looks to be very well made. It is more a piece of hydrofoil, than a submarine/anchor.
I have the same concerns about safety. If for some reason the seaglider gets out of water when the line is tensioned,...
I guess I would lose interest in this after 10 min. And it should cost...
