Hand Mount from Versa Mount - did anyone try already?

Postby Toby » Sun May 18, 2014 3:40 pm

Curious how that angle for filming will look like....a new hand mount for my GoPro...plus a mount for the board.
Hoping for good wind today to test it!

Hi Toby,

We have a ton of video using the Versa Mounts while kitesurfing. I'm working on editing up the video to get it up here on kiteforum and our website. We've been so busy getting the new business up and running that it's been difficult finding time to edit all the video. However, I have your Airstyle DVD and you are a much better video editor and kiter than me so I'm anxious to see the footage that you get!

I should have the video up in the next few days. But to give you an idea of the angle for filming, when you have the camera facing you it looks alot like the POV while using a pole with the GoPro mounted to the end. However the beauty of the Hand Mount is that your hands are free and you don't have to carry the pole. The coolest thing about it is that you can swivel the camera around and get video of yourself and your kite all in one cool shot. It's also great for filming friends as well. Just swivel the camera around to whatever angle works best for the shot that you want. Also try strapping it to the roll cage of a dune buggy or the strut of your kite to get some variety of footage. You can pretty much strap it to anything you can think of.

The sticky X Mount is alot like a normal board fin mount but again, you can swivel the camera around to get a wider variety of camera angles to make more interesting video's.

Here's a quick edit we did to show what the angle of filming looks like. It's quick and we are cutting more videos but we're still just two guys working our day jobs at the same time of getting all this together. It's been over a year to get to this point but what can you do when your reaching for your dreams but still tethered to reality?

I've personally used the hand mount for Kiteboarding, scuba, paddle boarding, on my motorcycle, and kiteboarding... did I mention kiteboarding? More videos to come...

Toby, you're actually the first person we sent this to so to answer your thread question... no, no one's tried it except A-Ron and myself.. and now you!

Mike

Hello Bill C,

I checked both the link to our website and the link to the YouTube video and they both seem to be working fine. However when I first launched our website I did have an issue while using Internet Explorer as my web browser.

If you are indeed using Internet Explorer you may have to clear the Cache. To do this go to "tools", "Delete Browser History", then check the top 4 boxes (Preserve Favorites website data, Temporary Internet files, Cookies, and History) and then hit delete. After that it should work. It seems to be some sort of problem with Internet Explorer. After clearing the Cache it should work fine. Or try using Google Chrome or Firefox as your web browser.

After that if it still isn't working I'm not sure what the problem could be cause it seems to be working fine for me.

I hope this helps. If you have any questions you can also email me at: info@VersaMountLLC.com

Thanks for your interest in Versa Mount,

Aaron

I had someone to edit my DVD ;-)

Good to film yourself while riding! Some interesting angles possible. See below screenshots.

I think what is awesome too, that you can film your friends. I did that before, I jumped, and a friend did a trick. Like a drone view. I had a stick and it was not easy to jump with it. But like this it is completely different, making it much easier.

And as you mentioned, your hand is free and you can do anything with it.

Damn!!!

Those pictures are GREAT!

That first photo is super cool with your board in you opposite hand.

Thanks for posting them!

A couple shots from the X-Mount on our boards... filming with both the X-Mount on a board and a hand mount definitely gives you more options in the editing suit!

With a quick click of the Hand Mount you can turn your camera around to catch the guy wiping out behind you!
