Hi, need some advise from Rally owners.
Thinking of switching to 2 kite quiver of Rallyes. Currently own 12m, 9m, 6m from 2013. Would like to replace 12 and 9 with 10m from 2014. Would 10 & 6 quiver work? Mostly ride waves. My board is 5,9 and I weight 74 kg (163 lbs). Need to cover wind between 13 - 33 knots.
Thanks.

I've flown the 2011, 2012 and 2014 Rallys. Never flew the 2013s but I'm told they are comparable to the 2014s in range, but the 14s fly a little faster (still slower than the 2011/2012) model. So, you probably know better than anyone if you can go to a two kite quiver.

I would think at your weight, though you could do it. In the mid-high 20s you'll want to get off the 10 for a smaller kite at which point the 6 should have just enough juice to go. The only issue I see is possibly too big of a gap from 6 to 10. To give yourself a little more room, maybe consider a 6/9 combo and keep your old 2013 12M. Try not to ride it, but if you find yourself needing it you'll already have it.

That'll keep you covered for local riding when you have room to throw 3 kites in your car, but when you get on a plane you can just take 2 with you. There's no point in limiting yourself to a two kite quiver if you don't have to. It's so much nicer to have the right kite for the wind!

seems to me the 10 to 6 gap is too big for waves. If you want to free ride maybe but waves? not likely. Probably better off with 10 - 7 and that is still a big gap in waves. Just my opinion having flown the 2014's a fair amount.

Yeah, that's a good point.
I had 6/10 in the 2012s and it was too large of a gap for me.
Now I have 7 RPM / 9 Rally and it is pretty good, except I've gotten blown off that 7...

A 6m - 10m gap will be very awkward.
I have done 6- 9 in some years, and even that is uncomfortable.
The 6m runs out of wind very quickly.

The 7m would be a more versatile size,
but you would have to wait for the wind to drop below 30 mph.
A lot depends on how steady or gusty your winds are at the high end.

Think about a 7 - 10, or as second choice 6 - 9.
I only ride strapless in the surf, so I like to be powered just right.
My SS quiver is 6-8-10-13.

13 to 33 knots? A 10 and 6 won't do it. I ride 2014 Rally's, at 75 kg a 12 and an 8 cover it, 33 kts is pushing it a bit for me on the 8. I find the wind range of the 2014's far greater than the 2013. Loved my 2012's but not regretting the move to the 2014's one bit.

realistically, you can not cover that range in the waves with just two kites. You can do it but you will be on the wrong kite more often than not. You can cover the extreme ends or the middle well but not both well with just two kites. Sorry, just my opinion, as always YMMV.
