Jaros, Your first day sounds like most people's first days. A production foil does not feel draggy, but you do get the sensation that something below is pulling the board around. Nothing can really prepare you for the first time the foil comes up. Most people take several days to any significant distance on the foil. It may take you much longer than that with your board.

This can be a nice strut profile as it is more rectangle shaped thereby leaving more material.
It will never be as hydrodynamic as many other profiles but sure it will work just fine for a low speed learning kiteboardhydrofoil.

despite any deficiencies, jaros does appear to address a few strucrural details that many of the purists ignore.

not for me to say how well it will work.
time will certainly tell.
we all seem to have a handle on what's better. But it may be harder to quantify what's good enough until you actually get there.

I am not sure I know what you mean by that, but thanx if its a compliment!

Hawaiis is my Idol! Until I saw his work I tought foils are something that can not be done at home. He proved that many things can fly no mather how low tech they appear. Thanx for that Hawaiis!
He does have one big advantage though - he knows how to ride a foil (if I am right he did learn on the bought one and not on a self made), and knows how to differ good and wrong creations under his feet.

in your case, the strut may be a bit suspect.
....possibly too soft and not strong enough.

hawaiis has lost one of his struts in the past due to faulty joint with board.
i believe rev head has snapped his fuselage where it joins with the strut.

its not likely your design will fail in either of those places.

they have both been generous in sharing their experience so that others may benefit.
but dont be afraid to put your own twist to the design.
you never really know until its done.

It was a removable joint between the strut and the fuselage, I have since moved up to permanent joints

This my favorite wing was never found

From these failers I now know that the High stress points are;
1) on the fuse between the T E of front wing and L E of strut
2) fuse to strut connection
3) strut to either base plate or tuttle box at borad
I see a trend for the distance between the f wing T E and strut L E to be less and have seen production protos doing this to reduce this huge lever force.

Carbon fiber is stiff, but too brittle. Carbon covered metal tube may be better.
