Different people like different kites depending on what you want to do with it (waves, frestyle, wakestyle, big air, racing...)

I've tried about 30 different kites. Out of the ones I've tried, I think the Kahoona is the best kite for beginners. Usually you can find cheap used ones or good end of season deals.

Agreed its a very solid platform to learn and progress quickly. Very easy to relaunch, solid power, bar pressure, an obvious kite with no surprises.

Kahoona v4 (2012) was my first kite and I learned a lot with it. I love(d) this kite! It is the pinnacle of user-friendliness and relaunchability. Sure, you find kites that are better in a specific field, but the Kahoona is THE winner for beginners and simply does everything well... yes, you find better kites in a specific field (e.g. wave, freestyle, hang time, etc.), but it is a great kite that you won't outgrow for a few years!
