I think the Ozone Edge bar pressure is lighter, but pressure goes up when it gets really powered.


I'd have to agree with Dave here. If you want light bar pressure, really light, then the edge must be considered.

I've had to deal with wrist injuries for many years. Some general tips on developing reduced bar pressure and other considerations. Make sure you have the correct sized bar for your kite and not one that is too short. Try to pick the right sized kite for wind conditions and not one that is too small. Attach to the middle or outer-most knot of the back pigtails on the kite (assuming you have multiple attachment points) to reduce bar pressure. Avoid light wind days focusing on moderate to higher winds to where you have to apply little pressure to the bar except for steering. Pulling in the bar to deal with lighter winds can really work your hands over badly. Using a larger board, directional or surfboard can reduce your kite power needs and related bar pressure in lower winds. Lay off jumping until you are further along healing, loading up for a jump can hurt damaged tissues. Focus on shorter sessions, if you need to ice your hands before and after to help manage inflammation, do so. Good luck!

Thanks John! Six years gone and still slowly healing. Near the end of the first year I thought I might have to hang up kiting permanently. Thanks to a heavy duty resistance stretching session with Gebi to tear up a bunch of adhesion's I turned a corner and started to build some strength back. Take care of your soft tissues, injury can take a long time to heal particularly when you have some years on you!
