Liquid Force Little Phatty??

Postby Dag88 » Tue Jul 01, 2014 4:55 pm

Has anyone rode this board for 2013? Im looking for something for those light wind/small chop days where my 137 TwinTip won't cut it. Anyone have any inputs about it?

I have one. I've been riding it close to a year. I don't think it has a great low end but that could be just my skill level and how low you want to go. I also have the LF Joystick and I think it has a much better low end. Though the volume on the Phatty should be a tad bit more than the Joystick, which is the reason I went with it first, I like the Joystick better because of the length. The Phatty's very playful in small and sloppy waves, never tried it in anything big. It's also nice and compact. If space is an issue this board is very short. The waterproof core is definitely a plus in my book. I'm sure it'll have a better low end than your 137 TT but it might not be as low as you'd want.

At 150lbs the board maybe perfect for you. I'm 180lbs so its a bit on the small side for my light wind.

For light wind get a light wind boars like the CrazyFly cruzer or cruzer pro. I own www.AtlanticKiteboarding.com (and have a phatty on the way), and get calls about using surf boards as LW boards. I dont recomend it necessairly. LW is also a relative term; for me LW is 9-14mph @190 i use the CrazyFly skim and a 17m Ocean Rodeo Flite. I am hopeful on my new 15.5 LF solo for LW as the 12 is really increadible. The issue with using surf boards is that they hace rocker. LW riding is about getting on a plane. Sooo thats why i use a skim. Its about as flat as it gets, and with no fins its even better. I think its a ton of fun in 9-14. But once its a steady 15mph then i will use the LF Solo 12m and a Mitu Pro surf and now the Phatty. The real question i would ask is "how light are you talking?"

The Little Phatty is sick! it definitely takes some getting used to for riding strapless. But it makes the one foot waves fun! you can snap off the lip without a problem. It is a fast board that's lots of fun. I would not recommend it for light wind riding. For moderate to strong wind its going to find a better home. For small to moderate surf it will be a blast....not sure about the big guys yet, it has potential to go either way!

What I found to be most fun with it was riding bay swell (chop) on a moderately light day (15mph with a solo 12m). I went back to back yesterday with that and a 6' F-One signature...what a difference in board. They are totally different to start but man the Little Phatty really can snap out of turns due to its size.

Once again for strapless riders it will take some adjusting due to its size..

The construction is great with no issues.

minor thing- the tail pad does not have a bit of lift on the end which I thought was weird...

I can't wait for the fall winds and waves with the Solo's and this board!
