Home made Hydrofoil for sale

Postby darippah » Sun Sep 14, 2014 2:37 am

I'm selling a home made high aspect ratio hydrofoil that I've been riding for about 6 months. Foil works amazing and has lots of life left. Price is $500 + shipping and is located in NJ

Foil is made out of wood with a bunch of layers of Carbon for strength. Very little flex and rides amazing

This foil is great for learning and still tons of fun once you learn how to ride. Since the front wing is high aspect it has amazing stability. The Wing also has lots of volume so it doesn't require much speed to lift off. many images attached to show dimensions of the wings and fuselage, mast is about 36 inches tall

I personally learnt how to foil with this , it took me about 3 sessions to be able to lift off and ride well. I can provide positioning of exactly where to mount the foil relative to foot positioning based on my experience

I would recommend that you mount this to a larger board to start- surfboard etc... before you mount on a twin tip since its easier to learn on a bigger board. I learnt with this foil on a 66 inch piece of plywood until it broke in half and then moved to a twintip

The wings are detachable and the mast and fuselage are not- big plus for stability.

The foil mounts to ANY board with 6 1/4-20 screws - only 4 are necessary but I use 6 to be safe

I recommend this to anyone looking to get into the sport for freeriding that is on a budget. This will obviously not win any races but is a blast to ride

I dont understand that post at all...

A working foil that is inexpensive, a great thing to share and sell so others can start "easy".

I've seen many homebuild foils, and they work just fine all of them, no matter how they are made.

When you get better, you migth want "expensive" and fast hydrofoils yes, but does not matter at all, when you start.

In fact a huge advantage, to have a foil you are less "sensitive" about - as it will get a lot of beating when you start

Do they have that day in Denmark?....or maybe that type of humor is not your thing

OP's price was low / great

thanks for all the positive comments :D

it took me about 20 hours to "master" my foil , + 50 or so hours building my foil .

The entire process was lots of fun- from the 35 degree freezing nights till 4 AM building the foil to the 90 degree days cruising out on the water in beautiful peacefulness. The entire thing has been a "kitesurf"changing experience

my love for the sport forces me to go out any day that has a slight chance of rideability- now with the foil those days have increased and the fun factor of the marginal days has went up many notches in my book :naughty:

:thumb: Spread the stoke. The sport needs more home builders like yourself.
