Dwight, I just received the test board for the weekend. Looks nice. But it does reconfirm my impression that they are heavier than other custom made boards.
But I can't wait to try it out

Yeah, but they hold up better than some. I guess that's what they have to do to keep most of their customers happy.

If you have one with the multi stance footstraps positions, then it's even heavier than what mine is. Those boards have have 36 stainless steel heli-coil inserts. The older boards have 12 inserts. Little people messed it up for everybody. Some guys are ordering them with their exact stance to get the weight back to true custom levels.

It's the kid's! Each year, more and more kids are getting into kiting and they are slowly dominating the circuit. We are starting to really see a boom in the young guys doing well in this sport. I bet next year will be full of more surprise by even more young kids. Where's your youth?

I've tested the WT147 a few weeks ago and I have to admit that I wasn't impressed. After owning an Empire 144 custom (mojo), having tested a 144 SOS custom last year, and currently riding an X-Shooter 144, I still prefer my X-Shooter. the WT felt stiffer, heavier, and these pads and straps are very uncomfortable. On the other hand it does rip the chop pretty hard, but my knees needed extra care afterwords. I could ride the X-Shooter for 4-5 hrs in Cabarete with no signs of fatigue, but 1 hr of WT147 gave me the works.
On the SOS subject it felt a lot like my Empire, although like Sean had said "if you like your Empire, you will love my SOS".
Just my personal experience.
For light winds I still prefer my own creation 154x42, Divini/S-glass, but I am biased

Obviously one board isn't going to suit all riders! but the WT's seam to suit most riders that have ridden them... Perhaps you are too dialled into the board you currently ride sometimes you'll find a board that is so sweet for you that nothing else can compare!

Enjoy whatever you ride! That must one bloody light board if it's noticibly lighter than the WT...

have you seen the new SOS Boards from Drops ?
Can you say sth. about the characteristics of Sean´s boards ? I´m currently on Takoons which follow a quite different concept, so I´d like to know your thoughts on SOS shapes !

I couldn't comment of the new SOS shapes since I haven't tried them. I've tried one of his first ones last year, back in the full wrap binding days. It was a technical and difficult board to get used to.
I am not sure how the newer designs behave.
