Ah, I was thinking if that was from running aground I'd hate to see the wing...

Sand bottom here in Chicago so foils are doing fine.

No activity here for a while. Are the self manufactured foils doing their job satisfactorily?

Where do you get your G10 material? What thickness do you use and what size of sheet to start with?

eBay, 1/4"-3/8" depending on the aspect ratio, the picture show 1/4" x 5"x 20", it is an intermediate foil.

Hawaiis, the g10 seems to be readily available and cheap enough. Is it stiff/solid/flexibble...does it need additional layers of glass? i've never used G10 for anything, or even seen a sheet so i'm not sure what to order.

G10 is what most raceboard fins are made of. They are much stronger than wood, just slightly lower than carbon, but really easy to work with, if you want stiffness, use the 3/8" it should be plenty strong. It is fiberglass, and does not need any more layer. Wood will require periodic maintenance, G10 is maintenance free.

I think I'll go for the 3/8.
Any tips on creating the foil? Do you use a sander? Grinder? Both?
Also, I've seen pictures of your foil and others top portion of the wing, but do you sand the bottom into a foil or leave it flat?
