Twintip, Freerace Done - Third will be a Foil!

Postby shawn13 » Thu Nov 20, 2014 3:41 pm

So I have completed both my twintip and freerace boards with matching colour scheme.

I have two more blanks. I plan on using one to make a foil/hybrid surfboard. Not sure what Ill use the other for yet.

Very nice-looking boards!

What it the size of the freerace board? What size of fins do you use? How does it run?

Its a 150x56. I installed tuttle boxes so i can use any tri fin tuttle setup. I currently use the fins from my sector 60 (24cm front 22cm rear), and have a set of airush tuttle carver fins on order. Ive only had one run on it due to winter, but it ran really fast. Will be testing it in the Caribbean soon!

Thanks! Please share your impressions after testing in Caribbean.

I wonder how easy is gybing if the board is so short.

The board works great! I had no baggage charges, and it got me riding in really light wind.
I am not at the gybing stage yet so I cant comment, bit it rides differently than my sector. You need to ride back further and this keeps the nose up and about the chop.

There was a pro racer there named Lutz, and I gave it to him to test. He was ripping around and gybing it without issues. His only complaint was to use stiffer straps, so its easier to get the feet in after swinging it around. I do have the stiffer adjustable NSI straps so ill swap them out. Looking forward to more riding days this summer on it!
