Board TIPs- (Hey PJ GOLD)

Postby Ron » Sun Aug 24, 2003 2:55 pm

Hey,
I am on my fast lane to my first wood core/ glass laminated board...
Got a question:
How do you make those rounded tips????

Thanks
Ron

I plan on making a 125X38.5 Board from
3 layers 3mm Birch
with
Polyester GlassFiber lamination (one or two layers of 200gr.)

Hey Ron
I cut out the shape including the tips, shape the rails, then cut the tips off a glue them back on at the angle.

Cheers
Peter

peter!

I was thinking about this option, but than i said " Na.... can't be.. to weak..."
Does the lamination layers hold the tip strong enough?

Thanks for the reply!

Hi
Put a fillet of filler on the deck at the join about 100mm diameter before you glass.
This increases the thickness and supports the joint, it also blends in the angle on the deck nicely.
I've never had one break.
With your build I would spend the extra money and get epoxy resin and use just 1 layer of glass.
Poly resin doesn't flex as well as epoxy and will end up cracking

Pete
