I think Snowkiting will grow tremendously.
The large areas in the USA and Canada will be perfect for it, also the froozen lakes.
It will be interesting if we have one day more snowkiters than kitesurfers?
But still, it is a perfect combination:
spring and summer on the water, autumn on land and winter on snow.
All season kiting !!!

Toby,
You are right- For those with snowy winters, you can kite year round, or travel to find it- That is what we realized here in Colorado a few years ago. Killer!

One thing you didn't mention is the speeds. You can easily hit 50 mph on skis, or faster. Sick compared to water kitesurfing without the extra drag of the water on the board. You can boost big, but you better be sure about the landings!

not to mention that you can ski or snowboard on untracked powder just about anywhere for just a little more than the cost of a season lift ticket at one of the puny groomed landfills they call ski hills around here. And kites last for years, not just one season.

Lift tickets are for suckers!

If I had money to invest in a sport, it would be kitesnowboarding.
Look at Finland here: Nothing but frozen, snow-covered lakes in winter and thousands and thousands of avid snowboarders and skiers who uptill recently have had to content themselves with one week in the mountains and some days on the few small hills at skiresorts around Finland.
Put a kite their hands, and the legendary high suicide rate in Finland will drop in no time.
Idem for Norway, Sweden, the Baltics, etc.
Been in Lithuania recently. Nothing but fields everywhere. No forrests ruining the wind, no electrical cables hanging around. Could be a mekka for kitesnowboarding.
