Hey Dwight,

had a chance to try the wavetray on a lake this weekend. It didnt impress me very much after all.

On flat water, it feels a lot like other TTs I have tried and it feels / rides slower than my Carved. Also, I found it quite unnerving that the front fin tended to catch when I was edging hard.
Could this be because of my weight (90kg)?

May be I can try it again next weekend, then I will give it another go.
Cheers
Nico

What sized tray? What size fins were on it?

The WT shines in waves and very rough water. You really can't tell why it's better in flat water. It takes a few sessions to adjust to the straight template. That's what makes the front fin throw water in your face. Once you learn the board, it stops. It also can take a few rides to adjust to the quick response front to back. The flipped ends make it sporty and quick. Once you do adapt, other boards seem behind in performance.

The straighter template makes the tail wider and more powerful. It also makes it rocket upwind in waves and wicked current. A killer feature in big waves with current.

If I rode only flat water I might stay with a straight tail, but who rides flat water all the time. There is a tiny loss in pop that hard core wakeboarders might not like. There is a big increase is the smoothness of the ride though. Again this would only be felt in very rough water.

Can anyone tell me where i can see some pics of the wavetry. i'm riding a 160 mutant at the moment but am looking to move to a twin tip for this season. i have a 151 star pickle fork but it is too heavy and i don't like bindings, they feel to restrictive.

thanks, jungles

Hhhm, it will be kind of tricky for me to try the wavetray in waves, since I am inland.

Dwight, what did you change in your technique to prevent the front fin from catching?

I was using the 147 with 35 mm fins.
