Yeah, I reckon a repair is possible too. Just broke my X2 leading edge completely in half, right in the middle between the valves. Cygnus Sails in the UK repaired it and it looks like new - absolutely amazing, I thought it was a gonna.

I crashed a kite hard on a big wave day and watch the same type of rip happen on my kite. I called Northwave sails and they did a great repair job.
The area between the strut and main kite body is designed to break apart before the enitre panel is compromised. If you look at the new kites - you can see the reinforcement near the leading edge and strut.
I am glad Slingshot came through for you.

Can I also add something:
If you do dump it in the surf zone, when you do get to the kite release as many fo the valves you can. The quicker the kite becomes just a big piece of cloth the better it's chances of survival in the surf are.

Great news , SSFuel is an excellent kite.
Got to ride a SSFuel19, really liked it.
Anthonyd, thanks for the tip, should help if the inside is really knarly and the not enough wind to relaunch.
