Hey,
I need to decide what kind of harness to buy. Do all waist harnesses have straps that go under your legs? any recomendations?

thanks,
sean

No, that's a seat harness.
I just got a wipika pilot seat harness. Great harness! very well built. Is quite large for its size. I recommend it over the Fusion seat harness

Sean,

What harnes to buy is a pesonal mather.
You can choose a waist or a seat harnas.
The seat harnas will crunch your testikels and the waist will destroy your back. It is what you prefer.

The most people use a waist harnas.
I use a cabrinha and I am happy with it.
I hear a lot of good things about the Dakine Pyro.

Try some in the store and buy what fits you the best.

Good luck,

Cheers,
Robert

I'd rather not have offspring than have a munted up back... so I prefer the seat harnesses...

My waist harness ended up becoming a chest harness on many occasions.

Whatever harness you buy make sure it's designed for KITEsurfing, not just windsurfing....

Kitesurfing harnesses usually have verticial reinforcment to stop the straps and belts from tearing.

Wipika is quite handy as I don't think they are into Windsurfing so hence won't make windsurfing harnesses......

I use mostly Naish gear but it's a matter of personal preference....

when buying a waist harness it has to fit 100% perfectly!
if it's just 99% perfect for you, you'll have an ankle harness after the third jump.

i had a da kine nexus which was like that, a friend of mine has one and loves it.

then i switched to a pro limit kitewaist, but after 20mins i always had to pull it down again.

now i squeeze my balls with a cabrinha seat and am happy

This is an endless question.
I have used both:
WAIST: better on your back (i have back problems and I stick with it). More natural stance. More freedom on your lower body.
Higher center of gravity. (it is a little harder to do backflips or fowardrolls) but your head always want to be up and you legs down (natural). Perhaps more input of body position while in the air. It goes up if you are with the kite at the zenith and its not well fitted. When riding it works ok.
SEAT: bulky, promotes the butt out stance, less support on your back (yes less support, look at the guys at the gym, where do they use the belt?).
It dont goes up (good) break your balls (bad). Easier to do rotations as it is closer to your center of gravity (you could like this or not).

This is an impartial look. I have been using waist harness for all my life!!!

Yeah my waist harness was pretty munted which may be the reason why it became a chest harness a lot of the time...

I don't have any major problems with my back... and my voice doesn't go up too many octaves when the wedgie comes... so I'm sticking with my seat harness...

May try a proper waist harness at a later date to see what I'm missing out on.....

I also had the Nexus to start & it kept riding up. I find you cant reach the depower strap when this happens.
I now use a Pro limit seat which I like -lots. However, the strap that holds the hook in place is starting to wear & slip so I may try the Cabrinha's.

I also use the ProLimit and what's nice is you can unclip the leg buckles and use it as a waist harness (I do) when you want to switch from seat to waist....

I use the Dakine harness Fusion seat and I'm very pleased with it.
Good support for my back (stopped using waist when I couldn't walk anymore due to pin...).
No pinching at the legs.

Good choice for me.

Toby
