I have been kiteskiing for 5 yrs...I have no snowboard experience but bought one at last seasons end...I know i need more kite to snowboard but was wondering what size...I weigh 135-140 and lets say a 15 mph wind...Thanks
For me at 185 pounds on good snow in around 12-20mph:
6.5 to 7.5 for a high performance 2-line foil (or a 4-line buggy foil rigged 2-line on a bar)
9.5 for a flysurfer-type sheetable foil
12 for an LEI (or maybe for an arc)
Go a little smaller since you weigh less, a bit smaller still if you are riding on hardpack. Make sure you wax your board, otherwise it will be really slow and will stick when you try to carve a turn.
If you are used to using handles for skiing, try using a bar for better control of a kite with more power. It will keep the kite more stable, let you fly it easily with one hand and also let go completely for a few seconds while you put your bindings on.
