I think I asked this before:
Has anybody tried out assymetric fins, as on the the new Naish TT 4'9"?
If so, is it worth using them? How does it feel different?

check out
http://www.kiteboardbuilder.com -> assymetric fins and ideas.
I have them on my boards :
Olry 175 : I sanded off the inside half of all the fins -> faster board, i think the same edging capacities.
Lord of Hellfire (selfmade custom) I sailed it only in winds too light to go upwind, so I cannot tell yet really.
grtz,
Dènis

I have 4 assymetric fins on my 150 directional. It's fast and edges great. It just makes sense to use assymetric fins on twin tips too. Most of the current small boards seem to use relabeled wakefins. That's fine for riding powered up but fat foiled stubby fins are draggy and inefficient. Symmetric fins can also contribute to bouncing the rail out in choppy conditions. Good to see some development in that area. The problem with the standard wake mounting method is that you can't make the fins much thinner. Fin boxes are more expensive to do. Manufacturers might be reluctant to move to thin assymetric fins, even if they turn out to work best.

I use a directional 4'10" and have messed with fins alot lately/ I find the assymetric fins ( on my board anyway don't work so well overpowered or in chop but fully powered and smooth they make a difference. The average rider probably will not notice much difference between fin shape as much as fin size. Theypull the edge of the board more into the water thus ccreating more resistance and therefore more power. Personally I prefer Symetric fins unless the conditions are perfect. Get a pair and put them on then swap back and see if you can tell a diference. Remember sometimes you might think it has helped but really it hasn't. Hard to tell the difference between fins. Small differences.
Good luck.
Aloha Royce.

Theoretically, assymetric fins should generate lift and pull the board into the water, and also upwind when edging.
My Mutant has them, and seems to point upwind surprisingly well... Who knows if it really works or not?
