I don't think you will find good Kite sptos in Madeira too much rocks if you are looking for surf in big waves you found the place but for kite .... maybe if you find a rescue boat or something and do some kite waay from the island !!

I’ve been in Madeira this New Year’s (GREAT FIRE WORKS :o :o :o >>> best I’ve ever seen!!!)… you have some wind (12-16 knots) from north, the problem is that in the north of the island it’s rocks everywhere with huge cliffs and at the south it’s completely offshore with very small beaches!!

I think that the best spot nearby is Porto Santo island (some hours by boat or an hour max by plane). Huge beach (8 km??) with a lot of windsurfing, nice weather and water temp but, unfortunately I don’t know more about it…

Azores> Try a PM to FLA...the guy is from there...

Hi

Well, yes... im from Azores (ut i live in Lisbon)... but i have also some knoledge about Madeira as well...

In Madeira if u are not a beginner, u have the Stª Cruz spot near the airport, or if u like rocks and waves try the North side.
About Porto Santo island, you have nice wind , nice weather (all year) and nice water cº... :) the wind is off-shore....

In Azores, there is 9 islands  ... but u can find some sand in Faial, S. Miguel, Terceira and Santa Maria... if u are a pro, u can ride in the ocean and maybe find some dolphins... supe nice... believe me

Madeira and Azores are not the best spot for kitesurf beginners, but with some luck... advanced kitesurfers will have great fun... oh!!! and must try S. Jorge waves... (and rocks too.. lol) ...

take care... :)

Forget Porto Santo during the summer. The wind is off-shore and, in my oppinion, too gusty (for kite, although good for windsurf). The beach is long and very nice, but wind comes from the wrong direction...
