First time hearing this and you seem to be long time foil'er - you must have good reason to pre-inflate via tail port and not via via LE vents? Could you share why?

Never heard of pre inflating through the defalation valve.
No need either if your launch technique is any good.

Now you have. Learn something every day, hmm?

Doesn't matter if your launch technique is perfect -- less flapping is good for materials, and the launch goes faster :thumb:

Never preinflated my diabos or aurora2.
Launch and draw bar in. Very little flapping if any and will inflate just fine.

So don't do it, nobody is forcing you to. Don't see why you'd need to convince someone else not to do things their own way.

Always fun watching the new-to-foils launch empty kites

Not trying to convince anyone to not do it their own way. Just pointing out it seems (to me atleast) unnecessary when a straight forward launch done correctly will inflate the kite just fine.
However if the wind is so low that it will not at least start inflating as it sits on the ground then a completly empty kite is a different issue.
I can only assume the last bit wasnt aimed at me.

ill have to agree with socomm on this one - i dont really preinflate as the kite launches just fine with good technique. If ure new to launching a foil preinflating probally helps ,, but does add some power to the kite during launch which i dont care for. wht i do do however is to stick a hand in the vents to make sure they sre open before each launch.

All the unecessary hassles of launching an uninflated kite can be avoided with just a little prefill ;)

I usually can't be bothered with the extra work of setting up a kite for a hot launch, so haven't done it in ages. But if it's light or tight enough . . . a little profile makes life easier.

I find the Speed3's refuse to fly to the edge of the window and just pull in the middle of the power zone till it inflates. Hot launch is much worse for this . . . another reason to avoid them

I always pre inflate, and always puzzled when I see people who dont. Maybe not as big of a deal on the lower aspeCT kites, but on the race kites it really helps. If I don't pre inflate I always have to backstall the kite to fill the tips.

Why do you want to use the deflate valve to pre inflate though? I've never tried it, but wouldn't it just inflate the middle of the kite? Even in hot launch position, I just walk down the leading edge and hold each intake up into the wind for a few seconds.

I did see the joker 7 had two deflate valves on the trailing edge. Maybe that's why?
