As a beginner on Alien Air board, I was using 2 foot hooks and liking it but today the rear foot hook broke in 2. So I am going to use straps as I don't trust the hooks anymore.
Wondering about pros and cons of 2 vs 3 straps for a beginner.
Thanks

As a beginner you don't need the back foot hook. I started learning with the AA and only use a single front hook or strap. I still use the AA for light air riding and after 3 years I am putting a back strap on for jumping. Unless you want to race or have a need for speed I would only use the single front hook. It allows your body to be more centered over the board and you will progress alot faster when learning to air gybe.

I have only foiled twice now and don't want to expend the energy to struggle to get my large board in position for a water start without the rear strap. So I am going to use a rear strap for now. My question is 1 or 2 front straps.
Thanks

2 frontstraps, definitely, as you got the option
Feels more comfortable, and MUCH easier when you are going to learn to jibe.
One single frontstrap is really only a benefit, IMO, for a few that find it feels better with one, when riding toeside.
Some find this to be the case, others dont, very personal.
And jibing sucks with only one frontstrap

2 front straps for sure, the back strap is a mistake and will slow down your progress.

If you use the rear strap to get the board into position then pull it out and move it forward just before you dive you kite you will be happy that you can move you rear foot around .

Peter, are you saying 2 front straps and no rear strap?
My other concern with no rear strap is falling with only one foot in a strap

Yes, 2 front and no rear strap. The 2 front straps should be very loose, like you can put 2 feet in there, because the main point of those is making your waterstart easier. I used this setup for about 30 sessions before i putted the back strap and still i only use it in very specific situations.

Started learning with 2 front straps loose with no problem, haven't tried one front strap but I feel like my foot is in right position already so not sure what would happen if I moved it to center of board...
I have a board with low volume so no issue to put it in position, haven't tried big board so don't know the struggle

I did not comment on the rear strap...
Personally I prefer using the front AND rear strap, feel much safer not in doubt, hate being in one front strap only, way too risky for me - but can not speak for others so on purpose I didnt comment.
